Well, that help me feel better...
As a beginner to NES assembling, which assembler would you recommend me to start with? I want something that poos .NES files so I can use it immediately in a NES emulator. If you give me a *magik kit* (a ZIP/RAR file with everything I need into it and ready to use) , I would be very happy. And if you have any tips related to the assembler you're suggesting me, please inform me.
Many thanks and if you help me successfully I'll
reward you.
There is X816 if you use dos, But there is a minimal Windows variant by Loopy called ASM6. It is open source unlike X816. I reccomend them both.
The thing I also REALLY recommend is CA65 (part of the CC65 Package)
Though, The newest DASM is More Portable (and Syntax compatible to ASM6\X816 with lesser edits and more) than any of those, So I am porting SMBDIS - the Comprehensive Super Mario Bros. Disassembly by Doppleganger to the below version of DASM
Here is the link to the newest DASM from Sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dasm-dillon/
And if you want SMBDIS, Go to RomHacking.Net and look under Documents. In Search, Find SMBDIS!
