I've been reading up on NES and cartridge hardware and am interested in throwing something together.
I've read that in mapper 0 cartridges the CHR can be replaced with a 2764 eprom and the PRG can be replaced with a 27128 (16 kb) or 27256 (32 kb). EPROM, however, not only requires a device programmer but also a UV light. That could be ok because my wife has a UV lamp for baking gel nails- it has a 6 inch 9 watt bulb (I couldn't find intensity ratings)- that I'm guessing would do the job.
I have noticed some people recommend using flash rom instead. I haven't found a lot of information about them so far so I have a question:
Which flash ROMs (if any) are pin to pin compatible for the CHR (8 kb) and PRG (16 kb and 32 kb) in mapper 0 carts?
