I found something interesting on forums, would like to try it so I wondered is this the only way to edit text or there is some faster/better ways to do it?
http://www.nesplayer.com/database/info/ ... .html#TEXT
That guide is badly outdated, since it uses Nesticle and a bunch of DOS tools.
The process is actually a bit more complex than that, since I haven't read anything about compression in this guide, and most RPGs and other games with large volumes of text do use compression.
I thought that too
Saw it on romhacking and says outdated. So the proces is more complicated then, I should probably stick to cart mods for now.
Although I like idea to translate the game or make my own edit.
For uncompressed text, the process is basically that, just with newer tools. I don't do a lot of hacking, so maybe there's some good tool to locate uncompressed text in ROMs I'm not aware of.
Compressed text will always be much more difficult, because each game uses its own compression scheme, that has to be individually reverse engineered (unless someone else has already done it and provided documents/tools).
