Im trying to learn how to do graphics and edit them for NES. I am using a program called FaTILEity. (other prog's I tried had this problem as well) When I open up a rom, The Graphics are all out of order. Is there a way to get these in order as how it would look as if it was on the screen being played? Thanks!
Which game? Are you trying to edit 8x16 pixel sprites? Otherwise, how do you expect a generic tile editor to know which order the game program uses the tiles in? It appears you want a tile editor that runs within an emulator, and this is about the only reason I'd use nesticle nowadays.
YY-CHR is a good editor, it has options to reorganize the tiles in various modes too, which works with graphics for some games.
If you want to edit the actual screen, you'll need to modify the tilemap (nametable) data. Since they all use different formats for it, usually only level editors for specific games can do it (easily).
Honestly I have no clue. This was my first attempt at it. I was editing Destiny of an Emporer II. I have never tried to edit graphics before so I guess I got alot to learn? =)
It's pretty easy if you just want to modify the tiles themselves, assuming the game uses CHR-ROM.
But yeah, it can be tricky if you need to modify the actual tile's placement on the screen. Unless it's text or something else uncompressed, it can be some work to just find where in the ROM the data is.
Im trying to take off a "patch not for resale" message from the title screen. I dont want to see that when I load up a game to play =)
One of them had a real date (from the real game) 1991 then the patch was 1999...when I deleted the 1 and the 9, it deleted both the 1991 and the 1999 thats the problem I am having trying to figure out. Same with a word, I wanted to delete a letter T...but then it would delete ALL the letter T's on that screen. I cant find any good documentation anywhere reguarding how to do any of this lol. Chronicales of the Radia War is what im trying to edit.
Ah, you'll have to find the actual text data inside the ROM, then. It's usually easy to do if you use a hex editor like hexposure (after you make a .TBL file to identify the font).
I used that program a while back to translate all of Castlevania 2 and part of Rygar into Spanish. It was probably pretty bad, because I don't even speak Spanish, heheh.

What would you sugest to use to make the TBL file?
Just a normal text editor.
Look at the 'Table Files' section here:
