Hello.
I can't understand Megaman's scrolling policy. Can somebody help?
MMC3 allows mirroring switching. Why don't these games use that by switching to the correct mirroring depending on the current scrolling need (vertical mirroring for horizontal scrolling and horizontal mirroring for vertical scrolling). By using mirroring switching an artefactless scrolling would have been possible (and they could have removed the background clipping), because the Megaman games only use 4 way scrolling. Why haven't they implemented this that way? Or is there a problem with this?
I'm not sure about the other games, but in Megaman 5 they actually do the reverse! They use horizontal mirroring for horizontal scrolling and vertical mirroring for vertical scrolling - quite the wrong thing
