My first attempt failed, so just want to get some more feedback before making a second run.
I found this image of the GSU 1 /2 maskrom pinouts in relation to sanni's post:
I then used this pinout for my TSOP 40 to DIP 36 adapter pinout:
As you can see, the mask rom and TSOP 40 to DIP 36 adapter have identical pinouts. Just the top 4 pins on the mask rom (pins 1, 2, 40, 39) are unused. I burned my rom to the adapter, it wrote correctly, everything matched up, but when soldered to the board all i got was the black screen, and the odd time i'd get garbbled graphics.
My questions are:
1. do I have to bridge the mask rom pins 1,2,4/20 & 40,39,38 when connecting to TSOP 40 to DIP 36 adapter pins 1 and 36?
2. Do I need to mirror the rom image on the chip? Rom is 2Mb (16Mbit), and the flash chip is 4Mb (32Mbit)? Not sure how the memory addresses are working on this board?
3. Anyone else have some general advice or previous experience using this combination of TSOP 40 and GSU 2 board?
