i was trying to read 2C02 technical reference by brad taylor and the tables in it do not display. i have tried for several hours now.
anyone want to make a pdf from it and post it?
or is there a way to change the line charaters to - + | ?
or is there another tech reference that has the same info ?
thanks
matt
"Do not display" meaning blankness?
Have you tried reading it in MS-DOS Editor (Start > Run... > edit) or an NFO viewer? If you use notepad, what about setting the font to Terminal?
i get strange characters displayed
and i dont have dos to try and edit with.
what is an nfo viewer...? ill google that
i tried setting the font to terminal too, didnt work
thanks
I hate tables like those.
You can display it with terminal in some text editors (Notepad works). Just copy/paste the table into notepad and make it Terminal to view it.
The text editor from DOS is still included with windows. (Start / Run / and type "edit"). Maybe not convenient, but it should work. If this looks bad, you should see what color ANSI looks like in a b&w terminal. Like the saying, "the nice thing about standards is that there's so many to choose from", heheh.
i dont have dos
i dont have notepad

Well, surely you have
some sort of text editor?
i have tried several text editors and cant get the ascii lines to display the table near the end or the file... they appear as garbage characters
I re-drew the table about a year ago to use more standard characters. It displays properly using any fixed-width font. I hope this displays properly here in the forums, if not copy it into any text editor. Also I didn't check for any discrepancies between this version and the latest 2C02 doc, so be careful!

Mac?
anything that is not M$.... evil
i use linux almost all the time... and i use osx sometime... and refuse to use garbage.

Give me Win2k over OSX any day of the freaking week.
While it's true that Win9x family sucks, WinNT family isn't as bad as the anti-MS sayers would have you believe. Win2k is suprisingly stable.
After you use linux for a few days, you really wish Windows NT/2000/XP supported symbolic links and hard links. (yes I know windows 2000/XP has halfassed built in support for hardlinks)
everything about microsoft is half assed, dont use it.

The problem with not using Microsoft products is that too many makers of PC components and peripherals are likewise half assed about driver support for any operating system other than Windows.
Let's not forget that a large number of PC components are manufactured specifically to meet Microsoft's demands for Vista (ex: DirectX 10, various forms of DRM). It's not just about driver compatibility anymore. There's a good chance that most future high-end hardware won't be usable at all (or will function in a very limited manner) outside of a Microsoft OS, at least until someone (like a judge) steps in and slaps them around again.
