Get me both Apple IIe / IIgs BASIC and I will prolly return the favor somehow later on.
The "Applesoft" BASIC interpreter was developed by Microsoft for Apple. Apple II Plus and older Apple IIe machines had Applesoft 78; machines sold after the introduction of the IIc (such as IIGS and later IIe) had the "enhanced" version that handled lower-case program input correctly.
The IIe ROM comes with
AppleWin, and the IIGS ROM is on this
list of Apple II series emulators that run on various versions of Mac OS. To verify whether your ROM has an "enhanced" BASIC or not: start your emulator, turn off caps lock, get a ] prompt, and try doing
Code:
10 print n$
list
If you successfully get all caps like this:
Code:
10 PRINT N$
]
then you have an enhanced BASIC.
