My super nes worked fine the last time I used it years ago but now when you power it on all you get is a is a quick flash of color with then a BSOD without a cart in you get nothing at all.
Apperintly this is a common problem as its whats wrong with all the broken ones on ebay, how do I fix it?
Sorry, "BSOD" is not at all clear. Run these tests and give the results:
1) What do you see when the SNES is disconnected from your TV with the TV on?
2) What do you see when the SNES is connected to your TV, the TV on but the SNES off?
3) What do you see when the SNES is connected and on, but without a cartridge in it?
4) What do you see when the SNES is connected and on, with a cartridge in it?
What do you see = what appears on screen and whether the power LED is lighted (old-style SNES only).
1.black screen
2.black screen
3.qiuck flash of white vertical lines when powering on then black screen
4.quich flash of colored places when powering on then black screen
when you hit reset you get a few white lines also, the indicator light is lit and its an old style.
Connector of game might be dirty. (otherwise snes)
Also your fuse might have blown but i'd clean the connectors first. (a bit of sandpaper usually does the trick for a snes type of connector very light)
No dirt no rust, where is the fuse located?
Cant always see it. Just clean it first.
its the first thing i did.
Ok if its a first generation snes then the fuse should be a big black thingie. Solderd over a hole near the side of the motherboard.
thats what I was thinking, ok ill try bridgeing it and it it starts working ill solder in a new one.
Remember (usually) fuses break for a reason. Check for shorts first ect.
