First thing I would do it check if the bios can see the hard drive. When the computer boot, does it recognize the HD? Can it see it in the BIOS?
If it does see it, then it maybe the OS that when wrong. In that case, try to boot with your OS disk and see if it does see the partition.If you're using WinXP, you can start the boot disk in console mode and try to re-install the master boot record. I just forgot the process, maybe someone remember about this task. If you're using linux, then it depends on many things that I don't know.
I was using Windows XP. I don't have a boot disk or a disk with Windows on it (I didn't buy the PC), and Windows stopped starting up a few days after I installed some Windows Update...
Should I dig around and find the CD that Tepples gave me that boots up Puppy Linux?
