Most NES PC mods I've seen involve sawing out a lot of the original plastic and putting in a mini ITX board. I did find one "stealth" mod that involved no sawing of the outer case, but still involved a lot of destruction inside the case. Ideally I would want to just remove the NES motherboard, keep it in a safe place til I know how to fix it, but MOD the NES to play games in the meantime...
I was thinking, why not put in a motherboard from one of these tiny open handhelds that have TV out? like the GP2X Wiz, or the Open Pandora? Seems like it ought to be able to fix one of these motherboards inside the NES case with some mild adhesives or even just REST it in there and without much modding you might be able to keep the original power button and original AV out, maybe even the original power jack (modded for the right voltage for the handheld mobo).
