how to you make the cross-hair not display in nestopia when playing a zapper title?
I have a computer light gun and I want to aim and shoot at the ducks and the crosshair makes that not fun.
It was hard to geting the thing calibrated to be accurate and now I want to be able to use it.
If in windowed mode: move the mouse cursor outside of the Nestopia window.
If in full-screen mode: drag the mouse cursor to the far bottom right or bottom left of the screen.
I still want to be able to shoot stuff, and the cross-hair follows my light guns movements since its recognized as a mouse.
Find the bitmap in the executable binary of NEStopia and zero it out with a hex editor?
There's currently no way to disable the mouse cursor (doesn't matter what it is either; crosshair, pointer, a giant snake, etc.) in Nestopia. The code to toggle this would be pretty easy to write. IT'S OPEN SOURCE, PROVIDE PATCHES OR STFU!!! j/k :-)

I might try, but Windows SDK + VC++ Express is over 2 GB.
I can just use the mame emulators and the play choice 10 duck-hunt for duck hunt but not so useful for anything else. At least nestopia is better than zsnesw, for whatever reason it makes my gun not be able to aim at all I tried changing the screen resolution and that did not work.
I would like to see support for the computer lightguns added to emulators but I guess they are just not popular enough. The only emulators that seem to support them is mame.
A simple aim and shoot target screen for fine tuning the aim and the ability to be able to toggle off the cross-hair would be perfect but I guess that wont happen.

This
might change with the adoption of handheld computers running Android, for which touch has a lot in common with light gun operation: an absolute positional input with no on-screen cursor.
This is a really old thread but, seeing as I was having the same problem and found a solution for it, here goes...
It was really bothering me that Nestopia displayed a mouse cursor on lightgun games so I edited the emulator's binary and replaced the cursor with a transparent one
)
In case anyone cares, here's the link to it:
https://mega.co.nz/#!jJ9wXRbS!IwessMZ3_ ... HT-ddQvZAkThat has the patched and the original nestopia.exe, as well as a transparent-cursor.cur file, with the transparent cursor I used.
Also, I found out how to do it by watching this video...

Did anyone actually
submit this feature request to the
Nestopia UE guy? It should not take much code to do this (honestly very very little), and would not require silly "hacks" like resource editing a binary that will just become outdated the next time there's a release.
Submit the feature request! :-) You can even reference this nesdev forum thread in your request (that helps give the author context).
