I get this message every time I try to load up the copynesw. Any ideas? I have tried with the nes hooked up, unhooked, different games inserted, 2 different computers, everything that I can think off. Just got done building the copyNES and getting it installed. The system play's great like a normal system. If I have it plugged up and turned on while I reboot the pc, itll reboot the nes game several times as well. Any Ideas? Thanks
Have you tried changing the lpt port setting in your bios?
I'm having the exact same problem, I just assumed it was due to my crappy soldering skills so I've been looking for problems with my multimeter.
If you find a solution, please post back here again.
I'm not sure what's supposed to happen to the NES when CopyNESW client is started. Could someone fill me in on that? I can play games just fine, but when I start CopyNESW my NES either resets or locks up (and i get that same BIOS error message).

Yep, Tried 1/2/3 on both computers. I dont think it's a lpt setting due to the fact that itll reset the nes when I reboot my computer, so info is going back and froth. Also changed it to EPP etc to try that, with no luck.
It's likely a compatibility problem with your computers' parallel ports. Yes, both of them.
ECP mode should work with the Win32 CopyNES client, but it seems that a vast majority of on-board parallel ports these days are NOT fully compliant (read: anything made in the last 6 years). You might have to get a PCI card with an extra parallel port on it - ones using the NetMos chip do work properly with CopyNES (though they needed some special settings in the Win32 client).

One of the computers I tried had a built on par port, the other was a netmos pci card.
The PCI Card I was using is a Netmos card, model 9805 (or 9508) Think it is the first.
If you're using a NetMos card, make sure to try all 3 port settings in CopyNESW (D800, E000, and E800). Alternately, open the Device Manager and see which I/O ranges are being used.
Just tried it on both of my parent's pc's too =( 0-4.
Ok, back home now and can see the addin card's I/O's. Its use's the netmos chip's. The range is set at AC00-AC07, on the first, and A800-A807. No clue how to change it though, it wont let me from that screen
The base address would be A800 in that case. Strange, though, that it would assign a range that low...
I'll see if I can redo the parallel port support to specify both the port name and the base I/O address.
Thanks =) Looking forward to it! =)
CopyNESW has been updated to support custom parallel port addresses. I even fixed it up so changing the port settings no longer requires restarting the program.
Got it going =) That helped hehe, Thanks!
