I'm trying to plan a cover entry for FamiCompo 2014. I need to know how much space I have for a sample-heavy cover. (No, it's not just taking the official recording and DPCMing it.) So far I've estimated 28 measures of samples / 40 measures/min * 60 s/min * 4 KiB/s = 168 KiB of samples.
But I want to test my playback code on hardware before submitting it. I know the PowerPak's NSF player uses only half the PowerPak's 512 KiB of PRG "ROM" because the NSF mapper can't control PRG "ROM" A12, and some of the 256 KiB that's left that is reserved for the player. Anyone know exactly how big an NSF can be? Or will I need to bisect this size myself?
