I recently fixed up a broken AV Famicom and am having some issues with interference on the screen.
Initially while testing the unit I had the heat sink and bottom shielding removed and there was considerable interference. With the unit properly assembled again it is much less noticable, but still present.
There is no top shielding plate (the parts side of the circuit board is exposed). Should there be one? The previous owner may have tried to repair it and could have left that out.
Any other ideas what the cause of the interference could come from? What I'm seeing isn't the same kind of patterns you get from a NES toploader which we know Nintendo screwed up - I don't think there's anything wrong with the composite video amplification circuit.
