I was asked to do a little research into the FC microphone, and how to make it functional on the New Famicom (A/V). In the process, so far, I have whipped up a schematic for the microphone circuitry...
The New FC and NES2 use a unified custom IC in place of the 40H368. so for those who want to make the mic work on your system, you'll essentially need to build this using a 40H368, or compatible part. The NES still uses the 40H368, so all I presume that you'd need to do is add the additional circuitry, however, this is (at present) untested and unverified.
If you find any error in the design, please point it out and feel free to make corrections, suggestions or the usual ridicule as necessary.
