I am thinking of trying to mod an american NES to add microphone support and before I start messing around with the idea I wanted to try to find a test rom that could check if the mic is registering as it should to test the final mod. Yeah, it is a pretty stupid plan I know but I wanted to celebrate the recent translation of Takeshi no Chōsenjō by actually playing it:0 I wanted to waste my time with that game ever since the Gamecenter CX episode where Arino finish the game:) Plus I wonder how the translation team dealt with the karaoke portion of the game... I suppose they translated the lyrics in english to something that sound the same to the low-fi mic of the famicom... I'm curious about this.
I found the schematic of the mic input on the board (http://nesdev.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=7094&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=microphone but not sure if it has ever been done before. Well, I can't figure out why someone would have done that just to be able to scream at pols in Zelda but I've seen weirder thing happen before
Anyway, any input or idea on how to add the mic to a NES would be also appreciated!
