Today I learned that there was a Vanilla Ice game in some form of development for the NES. It got far enough along for Ed Bogas (Action 52 music composer) to have made the music for it.

http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.p...

Anyone have any more information about this at all. It's quite facinating.

I wonder if any part of this game is playable.

I use the word "game" loosely.

Man, this game looks cool as ice!

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

Someone should try sending the guy an email. Maybe he'd have some information about the game, and how far it got in development.

I thought the game was supposed to be called Cool as Ice, like the movie.

Reminds me of an E3 where they had an Eminem puzzle game (yes, a block puzzle game that played Eminem music) on demo. We lol'd pretty hard and started to film and the security guy for the game put his hand up and prohibited us from any filming. Let's just say it's a good thing that was never released.

I tried to send old Ed Bogas an Email, but it was returned. So if anybody knows how to get with him some other way let me know. Maybe there is a smidgen of a game here.

That's super cool that you tried to get some more information. Maybe one day it will come to light!

Thank you del01 I also checked book of face and you can like him. I also see that he has his phone number for his production company. I feel bad for this guy pidgeonhold into making Bubble Gum Rosie background music. He looks like a good musician too. I wonder about that name though. It sounds too much like bogus. Another thing I noticed Color Dreams/Bunch/Wisdom tree and Action 52 use a lot of the same sound effects. I thought I heard someone say that Color Dreams made them and sold them out to other companies. The sound effects are in other shitty games too. Are they just like public domain sound effects. Ahhhhhhhh (Action 52 Noise)

Just talked to Ed, sounds like a great guy. He didn't remember much of his game work, but he said the game never was fully developed. They had permission from Vanilla Ice's people , but they couldn't wrap themselves around making a concept to properly fit the usage of Vanilla Ice. I'm guessing from what he said they wanted to incorporate rap elements but they didn't have the technology on the NES or SNES to do something based on vocals and/or dancing. So it would have been based on the lyrics or dancing. He didn't sound too sure about it though. He also said that he remembered some guy name Sean Barker out of Sausalito was the one behind it. He completely forgot much of his video game work he said, because there was so much of it. He didn't remember much of anything about Action 52. I don't blame him I wouldn't want to remember that one either. He got a kick out of the call and found it amusing that Action 52 was a cult game for being so bad. His Email is [email protected], although when you click on it, it says [email protected]. Well, I'll try to search for Sean Barker now.

Hello. I am the one who made Ed Bogas' VGMPF page and everything in there is what I wrote.

I found out about the game from Dan Filner. He was the one who mentioned to me Ed Bogas working on the music to it. Also, Dredster, it's cool you got in touch with Ed Bogas. A friend of mine called him up to ask him about Action 52, but said Ed just kind of stuttered and hung up. I tried calling him a few times for different reasons but he never answered. He did reply to an e-mail of mine once, but that was it. Never heard from him again.

Hope this helps.

Kind of funny that an NES game developer of a licensed title couldn't come up with a concept for the game. So many NES licensed games were developed with only a passing resemblance to the license.

Honestly this game is pretty cool. Unfortunately THQ saw that a decent game was being made so they had to stop it fast.
