That is just so awesome man. Unreal. It's stories like this that keep collectors going to places like pawn shops and garage sales .

Nice dude. Seriously, send that bitch in to VGA. Even if it doesnt get the greatest score (it might though idk) it would probably still let you sell it for more if you so decide.
Great score!
I can say that I didnt expect you to actually come through and perhaps you were being fed a line.
Glad I'm wrong!

Totally agree with Herbalist. Gotta send this in to VGA.

So, here's what I ended up with:

LOOSE NES CARTS:
Super Mario/Duck Hunt
Battletoads
Contra
Zelda II
Double Dragon II
Super Mario 3

N64 Zelda Ocarina of Time CIB (Box is pretty beat up)

NES King's Quest V (sealed - I'll post pics of this another time maybe)

NES Super Mario 3 CIB

NES Dragon Warrior V ("sealed")

All for $125.  Even if the Dragon Warrior is a fake, I'm OK with what I paid.

Anyway...here are the pics (note, there is a crease across about 75% of the box horizontally, about 3/4" up from the bottom on the front of the game):

Everything looks legit from what I know and have read.  The seams overlap on the sides, they are not at a 90 degree angle, absolutely no wear on top where the box opens, everything looks perfectly clean inside...

I can take more pics if necessary

awesome score bud.    Strangely enough, that crease you are talking about - I have seen it before on this game, and in the exact same place.   Maybe the contents were too thick?

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

^Didn't you mention to me one time that this is the same reason so many sealed copies of Final Fantasy look so lousy is because the contents were packed in so tightly that the games ended up rubbing together a lot more in their cases and thus had lousy looking shrinkwrap? It would certainly stand to reason that this game, which came with a map and thicker manual would've succumbed to similar problems.

^^@bronty:  Probably. Isnt this one of the games that came with the "blue styro" or similarly thinner/smaller styro to accommodate the larger size of the manual? Its reasonable to assume if they needed to get a smaller styro obviously space was at a premium and it likley got stuffed.

Man, every time I stuff a DWIV box with it's content, that's a challenge to not get the box to explode. I'd bet It is probably what causes the crease you guys are talking about.

O_O Holy smokes... Congrats, indeed . While I'd certainly be interested in something like that, I can't rightly say I have that kind of money to spend right now (I have the money, yes, but I'm wanting to save it).

that kind of damage actually might put it in the category of "dont grade". VGA downgrades way more for box creases, than one might think. You can have like 3 corner holes and it equals a crease that you cant even really see.
I could be wrong, but it might grade lower than a sealed collector believes it to be by looking at pics.

that's my guess as to what happened with FF, yeah.   Because you sure can't find a nice one to save your life!

So yeah probably the same thing happened here I just wouldn't know having never... you know..actually seen the manual hehe.

But the wear patterns are a little different.   FFs never had this kind of fairly sharp crease line at the bottom, they are just a little convex maybe.     this game is flat but sometimes has these stuffing creases, if that's what they are, and sometimes doesn't?   A little weird so I am not saying with conviction at this point

Insane find, congrats! I've owned a few of these myself. I don't remember any having a crease like that along the bottom though. I would guess just a normal box stress.

In the case of FF, with the extra thick manual, maps, etc. I expect to see a lot of scuffing on the wrap near the bottom front since the box contents are so thick. Remember, it was so thick that they didn't even include a Nintendo plastic sleeve... it came without one. DWIV is also pretty thick, and does include a sleeve if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know whether it'd be worth grading, or not, but it would definitely be worth getting one of their badass acrylic cases for protection.

lol, wut?

If you open it obviously it is no longer sealed (legit) and you just ruined a $1 to 2 K game to authenticate it? Now its worth $150 and you have a mint copy. Yeah that would be a bout the WORST thing he could do.

Anyway...op congrats on the find. That is SICK!!!

I totally agree with Robin and Arch, you should get an acrylic box protector and pass on getting this graded. You will likely get a higher dollar amount by describing the condition accurately and honestly yourself instead of possibly getting a grade that sealed collectors will not be looking for. Also, getting it graded costs money.

And for the above post ^^ I think Alekx was kidding
