Well at the moment, the N64 proto scene is very secluded and barely public. And from the looks of things, barely any games have been dumped and publicly released (maybe some have been dumped for personal use). In comparison, the NES proto scene is very well known and tons of games have been publicly released.

What I'm waiting for, is when N64 protos become popular enough to see public releases. After that, maybe repro carts (if those are even possible). It's a little hard to enjoy something when only a few people even know about or participate in it...

And I would go and say there's a lot less animosity in the N64 scene because of it honestly....you have people in the NES scene (not talking about myself) that go through great lengths to get these dumped and people want more or just don't care or badmouth them or expect things to be given to them at a moment's notice...they've made it a point to keep it open for people that are trustworthy. Not saying I agree with their view but I am just pointing this out because it looks like that has something to do with it..

This "interest" in protos for N64 is because these are genuine collectors of the proto carts whereas for the NES how many "true" proto collectors do you have nowadays besides Matt, Mark, and myself? A handful? That's the problem. Everyone wants releases but no one collects the things anymore these days for the NES but N64 there are definitely more prototype collectors.

Btw about Dinosaur Planet, is it a N64 proto? I remember the game was planned to be on N64 right?

Yeah, it was originally planed for the Nintendo 64 and there were at least cartridges brought to E3 with the game on it.

The old E3 videos presented a pretty complete game to me. The latest DP proto is probably near-final. Eternal Darkness N64 also looked complete as well. In fact, same goes for 12 Tales, but I haven't seen as many videos of that one.

Damn, what a shame. Hope we'll be able to see them one day. I'd throw anything to play these.

I still hope the Conker proto sold to that guy from the NOE subcontractor or whatever shows up someday. That's the only publicly known one so far, and the only one I can put any hope in

Hopefully it will turn up, and we'll all be able to finally play the game.

Thanks for uploading that. It's great to see more footage of the game in action.

Is that an old video made for promotion back then, or a recent recording from someone who has it? Surprised that info isn't supplied, as people are gonna naturally ask eventually =p

Thanks for that video. I love beta and proto stuff more than most things in the gaming world. Very interesting to watch.

Seeing how it's a VHS recording, my guess is this is old footage. Unfortunate really. If it was recently recorded footage, that would mean a proto cart would still be in existence, meaning there would still be hope for a public dumping.

Yeah, given that it's from a VHS I can only guess it probably was used in some closed doors exhibition or something, or a former employee dug it out of a closet and decided to share
