I live just 40 minutes north of Chicago and we had a crazy thunderstorm come through with super hard rains. It was so much in about a half an hour that my storm drains filled up to the bottom of the windows in my basement and were leading to water pooling into my basement.

Thankfully, I went down to check and was able to put towels at the base of the windows and use the shop vac to clean up the mess. Now, I’m up working on fan drying the floor. My collection is thankfully safe as well.

I hope everyone in the area is okay too.

Glad you're okay. Wonder if it was the same storm that ransacked Iowa last night as well. Before the overnight storm, there was a storm around 5pm where outside turned vibrant orange, and then crazy gusts of wind and rain. Some trees went down and everything, we have/had roads closed etc.

Hello Friday the 13th

Thanks, that was actually a different storm. I heard about tornado warnings in DeKalb around 5pm. This would have been the overnight storm.

Some houses near the rivers are flooded and streets are closed in the Northwest suburbs.

It was pretty bad here, but only lasted 30 or so minutes.
