Just seems insane that they'd flip something for so little money with so little research.

If they only paid 20 bucks for it wherever they got it, they're probably still thrilled.

Then we're talking about a unicorn-copy of Stadium Events in Canada that changed hands not once but multiple times in short-order after it has had years of online publicity with major news stories to be sold by sellers who are of an age that should imply competence with online search engines and eBay.

Like I said... insane.

Probably just thought it was a dumb sports game. I'm actually more surprised that it was only listed at $100 with Battletoads and Contra (along with other games) rather than them skipping over SE. I bet they found it down the street earlier that morning at a yard sale for $50 or less and just wanted a quick flip to double their money and get another few packs of cigs. Again, I'm still shocked OP was able to pick it up without someone from an hour or two away that wouldn't spoil it just because they knew they'd never get there in time to buy it. That to me is truly the insane part.

Now is definitely the best time to sell it.

Yes, that is equally insane.

If SE was visible in the picture, you'd think people would be coming out of the woodwork offering $150-$200, at least, sight unseen, to stave off other buyers at the original price.

This is probably the more accurate guess. I swear they were smoking in the appartment when I was there, and the lot does not smell. Also, the dude couldn't plug a NES in if it had saved his life. Didn't even have the proper AC adaptor.

And yeah, we all experienced that at some point; start a conversation with a seller and suddenly they get back at you with something like : "well right now there are other people offering more" or some shit and it flunks your deal. Pretty petty imo, but people are people and I expect these things to happen. And they do. Like all the time, really lol. The thing is I got super lucky to see the ad when it was posted, respond to it AND get there all under 10-15 minutes so our heads were all spinning.

That is flat out amazing. The dream. Even with a complete NES collection as the goal it would be difficult not to sell that cart once I got it. If that miraculously ever happens to me , Id hope it was when I was almost finished. Claim my complete status, and then sell that cart.

Sell that thing for as much money as possible. Hell of a score.

I don't suppose it's possible you could post the picture from the listing? That would be neat to see.

Congrats! Hopefully the people who missed out don't tell the lady what it was worth and then they try to get a hold of you saying you scammed them. That might be me being a pessimist, but I would be worried about that if it were me. I would do the exact same thing as you and flip that thing ASAP!

By the time they replied I realized there was an SE and I was already in my car driving to an atm. When I got there the lady told me her bf was trying to plug the shit in to test it out for me and that she was being flooded with messages. So I made quick small talk about how these things don't break and testing isn't required, that they are quite popular, etc. I threw the cash at them and ran off with the loot as fast as I could.

Awesome visuals.

if they don't do the research before selling, and they asked a 100 dollars for the ENTIRE lot they were offering,
and the buyer pays them the 100 dollars asking price....
then, NOBODY got scammed....

it is not the buyers fault, if the seller later finds out that 1 of the games they had is worth big moneyz...
all they had to do before selling was a quick google search "Nitender tape Stadium Events"

Oh I agree and I am not saying he scammed anyone. But if the people were not the most well off they could feel like they were taken advantage of if someone informed them that it was worth a lot more. If I was in his shoes I would have done the exact same thing and hoped no one else tried to ruin the deal for me.

The fact that this went under the radar and was found In Canada is insanity. And in a city. Congrats. I sent a prospective buyer your way earlier today when I saw it on Facebook. Hope it pans out for you. Cheers

Before I read the OP's story, I thought maybe this could be the first item from Trade-N-Games stolen safe to show up. Unless if the thieves made their way from Missouri to Canada...

Great find, OP. Gives us all some hope!
