It is indeed a weird game with bootleg Bimmy Lee as main character.
Not the weirdest game I have ever played, but still, it is a strange one with weird enemies and okay gameplay.

Guts described it as a "poor man's Double Dragon, a very poor man's" in the previous Target Renegade contest.

It's certainly no Double Dragon 2, but it's playable. I've played worse.

The game does have some MST3K type charm to it,but yeah it's overall not very good.

I like how the game tells you that Tiny's weakness  is his stomach when you are clearly hitting him in the nuts. Hmmm....that reeks of a SuperJim sketch....

It definitely has it's charm.
It is quite enjoyable to play, despite it being short.

How many stages are there ?

There are 7 stages each ending with a boss.

Stage 6 is probably the worst with the combination of cheap shotting karate guys and knife throwers. The Stage 3 boss is annoying and might give some problems as well. Also stages 6 and 7 have "Tuxedo Abobos" that can keep punching you until you're dead. Try not to get between them.

Edit: I didn't see that you reached stage 5. The skateboarders are fun.

Seven, but they are all very short stages.

Of you beating the game before the end of the week?
Absolutely. You winning this week? No, not at all.

It's not Double Dragon, but it isn't a bad game by any means.

Definitely not. I enjoy playing it quite a bit.
It is just weird how they tried to sell this as a sequel to Renegade, yet it plays completely different and lacks a Kunio Kun game base to it.
And how they made the protagonist to be bootleg Billy Lee.
But I enjoy playing this one from time to time.

Wow, fuck the level 3 boss.  And picking things up.  And the enemies that combo you despite no attack animation.  And the stiff as hell jump kick that leaves you open to attack

I'd almost rather play Bayou jerBilly than this POS

I rented Renegade several times as a kid. I haven't played it since, but I thought it was a fun game back then. Neither one are in the same category as River City Ransom.

I will have yet to place in a beat-em-up, despite an average finish last year of like 2.2

Or one could use the free time to wrap up a certain interview.

To quote Roddy Piper, just when you think you have all of the answers, I change the questions! If you can come up with 1000 questions, I've got answers!

Wow. The NES port of Spy Hunter is atrocious. You guys are going to love that one.

Shame on you, Sunsoft. You can do much better.

Yeah, it is deliciously terrible.
And I will get to play it on the everdrive I ordered, running on my NES clone with awful Genesis like pads!
It will so much fun!

Even though the cart is dirt cheap, I'm going to play Spy Hunter using emulator just so I have more time to get a picture. What's with some games showing your score once briefly and that's it? What's the point of even having a score in this case? Especially when it's a friggin' arcade game that is all about high score.

Also the controls are horrible.

I guess that I'm lucky that the NES version is the only one that I've played, so I didn't really notice.

Tbh, I haven't played the arcade version in years so I don't remember what it was like. It must be better than the NES port and its two speeds of way too slow and way too fast.

Well you already interviewed Skinny Jannetty, so it should be interesting to see who you teamed me up with. I'd seriously answer 1000 questions since they're finally starting to get interesting and I'm like Shawn Michaels or CM Punk with a live platform.

And I am drunk to the point of wardrobe accidents!
I got even weaker to alcohol! This is terrible.
I guess it is a good point to give it a new run and improve my score!
