Probably the best article we've ever published. Definitely one of my favorites.

I thought this article was amazing. I learned a ton, and also learned how hard it must have been in the "early" days of NES dev. Amazing stuff.

Yep it's great to finally have published a full account of the legal crap between Tengen and NOA, and also very topical in how it related to the eventual cracking of the Rabbit.

I agree, one of the best articles to grace the pages of a NA ezine.

I find it facinating that AVE had the balls to include instructions on clipping the chip.

I wonder how many Dads found themselves on Christmas day, out of there confort zone, with a disassebled NES on their kitchen table trying to perform this surgery.

Wow that article was very in depth. I love watching people slowly dissect something, then stumble on some big "AH HAH!" like the debug out on the Tengen chip

Did kevtris release the PIC code for the Ciclone publicly or are you running custom code on the Ciclones you sell on your site bunnyboy? I read somewhere that he coded Ciclone for the PIC 18F452, but the Ciclones supported by your Repropak look like the 12F series (I'm guessing because the 12F are the only 8 leg PICs I've worked with)

Overall a very impressive hack and a great tutorial, I'm amazed hong kong carts used CIC stunners for so long!

The original hardware tests were done on the PIC18F452, but that was only one region and not at full speed. It is not a drop in replacement for the real CIC. The code is available from kevtris at http://tripoint.org/kevtris/mappe...

The Ciclones are a 12F629 and the code is not public. I buy the programmed chips from kevtris in big batches, and don't expect that he will release the code anytime soon.

Ahh okay cool, that makes more sense. I'm getting more interested in making repros/homebrew carts, so I've been eyeballing your Repropak kits. All I need is an eprom flasher off ebay (saw them going for about $50 or so), and some more spare time
