Hi to All,

Just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to these forums.

I've been playing on the NES since the late 80's and have loved it since.
I've recently been adding to my Nintendo collection, most notably a CIB 64DD with the 7 easier to find games.

I also recently got a CIB copy of Stack Up off ebay (from the National Games Depository, he's no doubt a member on here because his collection is up there with the best of them)

(I'm in the UK but I've been importing games from the US for a while now, plus there a bit easier to find on ebay in the US than anywhere in the UK, and a lot cheaper)

As my name suggests I'm a big Virtual Boy fan; I'm just trying to complete my collection which has a fair few holes in it.

Apologies on the name NGD, I knew it was one or the other lol.
My R.O.B. is proudly wearing his new kit inside a cabinet now, well out of the way of sunlight!
Does anybody know when the NWC repro's are going back on sale? It says on the Retrozone website the estimate is 18th July.

Nobody really knows except Bunnyboy (the owner of RetroZone), and he's not one to divulge this info (in order to keep it fair). What typically happens is he'll announce a rough date, then people camp out here until the wee hours of the morning waiting to see if he posts them. You being in the UK would make it much easier to keep an eye out for them because of the time difference.

Ok thanks for that.

At the moment I've got ~ 50 NES games. What I've been doing is trying to get hold of all the series games like power pad series (obviously the ultra rare stadium events is not on my list), power glove series (super glove ball & bad street brawler), Robot series etc. When I've done this I think I'll move on to collecting just general games a bit more.

(I received 9 NES games today from the US (along with Chrono Trigger for the SNES which is well reviewed), I was quite suprised at how good some of the lesser known games were like quantum fighter & captain skyhawk, they only cost like $0.50 each. good gaming for little cash in my book)

(I'm also waiting on a few resistors/transistors to come so I can mod my toploader to output AV because the tv's in the UK don't seem to like the RF signal pumped out by the NTSC consoles, the famicom is the same.
Has anybody found a way of getting rid of the vertical line plague on these systems yet? There was a topic on NESdev a while back but I can't make head nor tail of it, lol.)

Welcome, VBForever! That's awesome that you have a CIB 64DD. I am jealous of that. And I also collect Virtual Boy myself, but only the 14 US releases. That's a quick easy set to complete.

See you around.

Hey! Speak for yourself!

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

I've only had the 64DD about 2 months, since then I've got the F-Zero Expansion kit, Sim City 64, Doshin 1, and the 4 Mario Artist Games. Only really played on the F-Zero game as the others are more or less all in Japanese, not an easy language to guess whats going on in. So I got a US N64 to run it on, and I notice the rarer games like paper mario are a lot cheaper on ebay.com even with shipping to the UK, as apposed to ebay.co.uk.

As for the VB games, I'm trying to collect all the games US & Jap, so I think it comes to 32 (14 US, 19 Jap, 22 different games, but getting both the Jap & US versions of each game I think comes to 32). Virtual Lab might take a bit of hunting down, somebody on ebay wants 500 Euro which is something like $650 - 700 roughly, not cheap.
I recently got the Blockbuster Carry Case for the Virtual Boy and it was in the UK where I got it from which is unusual.

Have you tried play-asia.com? I'm not 100% certain but I thought I saw space invaders on there not so long ago. Most of their stuff is BNIB, but its obviously the Jap games, never seen a US VB game on their.
I did see SD Gundam for 299 Euro on ebay a week or so ago, the price is a bit steep but it is a rare game. I've currently got my eye on a CIB copy of Waterworld on ebay, just waiting for some funds again to nab it.
(Most sellers in Europe will ship to USA but with the dollar being weaker against the pound and euro lately it'll cost that bit more, but its good for us on the other side of the pond, lol.)

Do people often trade things other than NES games/accessories on these forums?
(Its just I have a duplicate CIB 64DD kyojin no doshin game that I need to offload to raise some cash for other nintendo goodies)

Definitely -- we have collectors of all sorts of different systems, just post in the buy, sell, trade thread what you have or what are looking for.

Wow you collect JAP too, there are some mighty difficult Japanese VB games to track down. I only collect US, but I do have all 14 releases CIB.

And yes, we do trade other things besides NES, although NES is our main area of interest.

Hi Wolf, sorry about the late reply, only just noticed someone has posted in this thread. Good to see you here.

Have you made any progress with the SNES yet? Has the PAL to NTSC converter arrived?

I'm sure you'll fit right in here with your NES collection and these guys are fonts of information.
