I just finished playing through this game. I vaguely recall playing it back at its release, but I don't remember actually completing the game. Either way, I remembered almost nothing from the game.

As usual, I didn't use any sort of FAQ or walkthrough. The game was extremely easy. I got wiped out twice near the end, but otherwise there was little challenge. I didn't do any extraneous levelling and ended the game with my party at level 20.

This game has, by far, one of the longest final boss runs I have ever experienced. You get to the final level and you think you are almost done, but then the game just keeps going.

I was disappointed that the "spells" were all relatively weak. In almost all situations, it was more efficient to simply attack. I had selected spell power/defense as my level up choice almost every time and spells were still weak.

The music in the game is memorable and very thematic. Unfortunately, the official soundtrack doesn't do it justice, as the tracks are too short and do not loop enough.

I am still sitting at the "The End" screen listening to the music. It brings back memories of how I used to leave the NES on the Super Mario Bros 2 end music while I did other stuff.

This is my favorite game, and basically always has been. My parents say I more or less learned to read from it.

Amazing game, even if it is incredibly easy. I play through it at least once a year, sometimes more.

It's definitely among my top ten favorite games of all time, primarily because of the beautiful music score.

I owned a snes as my first everyday system and played super mario brothers like it was nothing. When I wasn't playing SMB I was playing battletoads or Donkey Kong Country, When my friend rented this game it was no big deals. 3 years later I played the whole game through with the guide and it remains my second favorite game with SMB as the first.

Thats all the input I have for this awesome game.

It's a good game, but I've never finished it either. My current save is at 5 stars and I haven't got round to finishing it yet.

My SNES RPG experience is minimal, but this ties for my favorite with Final Fantasy II.

I've always wanted to try it. Many have echoed most of your sentiments about loving the game.

I love most of the other Mario "related" titles, but I'm not a big RPG fan, so that's always scared me off. That, and most people sell it for $30+ still.

Geeze man, thanks for the spoiler. XD

Seriously though, this was like one of the first RPGs I played and it was rad. Geno is the man.

Super Mario RPG has always been my favorite game of all time. The graphics were absolutely amazing; the music score, even greater than the graphics. Not to mention that this was the first game my step-brothers actually allowed be to play by myself when I was young. This game is one of my best childhood memories.

That would be like a dream come true man, especially if they took the time to "3D" it.

Great game. I just played through it not too long ago. I shocked myself with how much I remembered from the first time I beat it.

I know you are joking, but I thought I would mention that I specifically avoid any spoilers when I make these sort of posts. I had another photo I wanted to share, but it shows the entire final party, and that alone could lessen the experience of a new player.

This forum needs spoiler tags!

Weird timing for this post. I've never played an RPG and I grew up in the 8 and 16 bit eras. For some reason they just never interested me. I purchased Mario RPG off ebay last week and I've made it to the sewer land area. It's probably a good starter for me as to I know some of the characters. I will admit it is a totally different experience but not bad at all.

This is my favorite game of all time. Yeah, it's not too hard, but the music, humor and graphics are top notch. How many other old games like this make you laugh out loud multiple times? Not many in my experience.

One of my favorite RPGs ever, shame they ruined the formula when the lost Square on those Paper games, but the GBA titles kind of recaptured some of it.

The game can be very easy or hard depending how you attack it though. If you level up at all by doing some grinding you can stomp the game fairly well, but if you just push the whole time and do that at the minimum or not at all, it will get ugly deeper in against bosses. Cluex though, that FF2 reject hiding in one town though is a downright ugly nightmare that was hard to take down. It's funny that a game that can be so easy has one nightmare of a fight hiding in it if you can locate it.

The bosses were definitely tough. I actually didn't note down the names, but the sea captain and a few others were extremely hard to beat.
