This is the exact reason why I pushed myself to learn how to beat the game without dying! That really sucks to have to start from where you stomped Malth. It's a really long distance haha!

Take away that and you take away challenge; take away challenge and you don't have a "game."

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Props to anyone who can remain sane in 6-3. One the most frustrating levels EVAR.

It's funny that I remember receiving this game Christmas 1989, and the exact date I finished it - August 10 1990.

Currently playing;
NES - WWF King of the Ring, Dragon Warrior IV
DS - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, DK Jungle Climber
Wii - Link's Crossbow Training

Ok not Ninja Gaiden but has anyone actually beat Shinobi? The damn bosses on that game are brutal and I always end up throwing the controller at a wall, I have broken at least two in frustration. Any tips besides cheating with Game Genie or something like that?

My favorite part is when you jump and a bird appears right in your path and then you hit it and bounce into a hole! Hilarious!

Re: Ninja Gaiden:
6-3 is cake after the hell that is 6-2. That one screen with all the consecutive jumps with birds and baddies thrown in is what me and my peeps refer to as "the gauntlet." Once you've successfully run the gauntlet, you're home free.

Nice to meet you too : )

Yeah, 6-3 is cake compared to the Hall of Brahmans. Especially that one certain part with the rocket pack dudes. ugh, that part has screwed up a perfect game of that for me more than once.

And Dr. Morbis, I like your style:

'Take away that and you take away challenge; take away challenge and you don't have a "game."'

Do you mind posting a link to your Ninja Gaiden Tips??

I've played the game forever and still can't beat Moth or whatever his name is that throws the lightening.

I think Ninja Gaiden has the perfect amount of challenge -- the levels are extremely difficult, but you get as many continues as you want. This way, you can play them again and again till you get really good at them without having to start the game over. A lot of other games with limited continues (like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) or no continues (Double Dragon III, IIRC) make you go through so much unnecessary work to perfect the later levels.

Ghosts 'n Goblins is another game with unlimited continues on levels, but that game is just way too difficult anyway. At least Ninja Gaiden's not that bad.

All this said, I will agree that it is a huge pain to have to start over the last level when you die only a single time to one of the final bosses.
