I said I would never back another video game Kickstarter but I'll back this one. I'll be getting a complete boxed copy if you're offering it. Is one of the tiers going to be offering the prototype as a reward?
Thank you, we appreciate the support!!! I think one of the key differentiators with our release is how far along we are. This was by design. It pissses me off personally when you see a Kickstarter and the game isn't even in the testing phase or is being "designed".  We are a couple steps away from production.

Great questions, here are the answers:

There are 3 boxed versions. Standard release, Limited Edition and there will also be 3 Dev copies available during the Kickstarter. Every version has their own artwork with the Dev Copy being just, well, insane. As for the proto, the plan was to offer that on a tier but the Kickstarter site has limitations as to what you can do. We also wanted to do a sweepstakes which we can't do either. Kind of a bummer. I'll ask for exceptions but don't get your hopes up. If we can't tier the proto I don't know what we'll do there.

If we cant get the sweepstakes exception maybe we can do that here. The prize package includes a custom "Socks" SNES console, by non other than customnesguy, a standard edition boxed copy, some autographed posters and maybe some other trinkets.

EDIT - It's also worth mentioning the Dev Copy is different from the standard and LE versions. It will have actual game features not available in the other copies.

Will there be a way to have access to the unmodified game besides by winning the prototype? It would be kind of sad to just see it get lost in the void.

To be honest that's something we'll look at after the Kickstarter. I don't want it to be lost either...

I don't know if you're wanting to wait for the Kickstarter itself, but can you quickly explain these Dev copies? Why exactly does it have stuff not in the others? You're saying some content was deliberately cut out and made only available for these three copies that will be offered, or you're just saying dev stuff like a debug mode which is usually not accessible will be reactivated?

My cynicism is kicking in reading that, have to admit.

You can put your cynicism to rest. Dev copy will have level select, maybe a ghost mode, stuff like that. The other releases will not. To be clear. The regular version will not be lacking anything intended to be in the game and the dev copy will not have any additional gameplay.

We're planning on shooting the Kickstarter video today at Second Dimension HQ! This whole thing is close to wrapping up for the campaign, it's amazing. I really hope everyone likes what they see!

International shipping is expensive.

We totally agree.  The team originally decided against wordwide shipping all together.  After talking, we decided to offer shipping abroad, but at the cost of a small international flat rate.  $25 is the lowest we could offer unfortunately.

Yeah, unfortunately it's just insanely expensive:

Heck, even a GIFT CARD flat rate envelope will run you $24.  We decided as a team we'd rather provide an expensive shipping option for our international friends than not allow them the chance to obtain a copy.

"The most anticipated unreleased game of all time is finally coming!"
Whoa, when did someone dump Twelve Tales?
In all seriousness, I hope the kickstarter goes well!

Although Socks has no rights to his name, isn't there often restrictions legally against using the likenesses of actual public figures, especially famous ones?

Did this even get released? I missed out on the kickstarter and haven't heard anything about it in quite a while.

It is getting released. Unfortunate circumstances have caused a bit of a delay. Looking forward to an awesome release.

Yep. I think the initial estimates were for this month on physical deliverables, so the delay thus far isn't such a big deal to be honest. I'd love to have mine within the next 6 months for sure, but family comes first.

I'm still waiting for a digital copy I backed for. They started shipping physical copies months ago.

A lot of backers seem to be losing faith. This definitely needs a response from those involved. I understand one of them lost their mother not long ago (sorry, I forget who that was), but hopefully enough time has passed to at least get a message out to the backers? I was actually surprised to learn it was only just over 300 people that got it past its original goal. There must be some high payers within there. Surely assembling all of those by hand is no easy task, but with how much time has passed I think there's enough frustration in the Kickstarter's comment section that warrants a response. I know some great people are involved with this one so it sucks seeing it go the typical way of many Kickstarters where the communication is terrible.

Thanks for posting this. I’m fine with waiting as long as it takes, so long as we’re getting updates. Two months after the vague shipping announcement, the ongoing strategy and timetable should be disclosed.

There's been zero definition of the digital copies, so I have no idea when or if I'll get anything. Weren't the principals long-time members on this forum?
