So with the N64 carts gaining popularity / price, how long do you think we need to wait before Hyperkin or Yobo come out with a Portable N64?

Thoughts?

A local game store in my area told me that they're releasing a new yobo type system that will play NES, SNES, Sega and GB and GBA games!
Nothing yet on the N64 front I'm afraid.

I'll look around and see if I can find the link to it tomorrow and post it here for you!

I've seen them custom made so it's been done before.

This is the best one I've seen so far. I like the look and the fact that it utilizes real carts and hardware. He has a step by step on how to make one but it seems like quite a task. I really want to try making one sometime.

Compared to the NES and SNES, the N64 barely had a library, much less games that aged well. So not any time soon.

N64 emulation on the PSP is terrible for gaming purposes.

This. Even worse it's horrible single player system so I can't imagine why anybody would want a handheld 64. It would only be good for a portable Zelda device.

Same. I've also seen a handheld GameCube so I thought N64 would be easier.

I thought Shadows of the Empire was pretty decent.

I'm pretty sure it's a matter of the patent on the hardware. The NES patent expired around 2005, the SNES 4-5 years after that, and I'm sure the N64 will be another 2-3 years.

I'm sure it will happen, though.

When it does happen I'll snag one up immediately. And to the n64 haters, do you all just sit around and wait for a thread about n64 just so you can talk shit about it?

N64 has a just a few hundred games, but a whole generation of kids grew up with it and more got interested later on so there's a market, but it probably is the patent issue as NOA would sue someone to death if they're active.

LOU D: You're thinking of the upcoming RetroN4 from hyperkin. There's a couple topics on it on the forum and it looks to potentially be a fairly solid device hopefully.
