Seriously though, if you're all saying this guy has been doing this repeatedly. Contact the police. You have proof and with all the info people have on here its probably enough to get this guy busted.

Go ahead and do that.  I think the police would have a good chuckle at your expense if you actually brought this to them.  And good luck with all the time, money, and effort that will be exhausted in the legal fees if it ever goes to court.  Which will dwarf the hundreds that was spent on the game in the first place.

The guy is engaging in forgery, and committing fraud through the US postal service.

If it's frame correctly it's a criminal act, not a civil case, so the state is fronting the legal fees.

Right, no legal fees if it is prosecuted as a criminal case. It seems like this happened a few years ago with a guy who resealed a game he bought complete in box on ebay. It was obvious it was the same box and there was some story about the authorities going after him, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, it should be reported, if only to be on file if others make similar claims in the future.

This guy is in my area code. Find out where he lives and I'll find him and give him lots of hugs.

Man, that sucks!
I'm a bit surprised that the graders picked out the vent holes from under a microscope and not the marker you can kinda pick out from the pics.
I always wonder when these are discovered how many bought and sold them without knowing they were fake before it got picked up on.

Well, the Popeye will be back in the same sellers hands before we know it. Probably back on eBay shortly thereafter. Everbody beware. Seller's name is the_gameking

Not that I collect seals or even plan to sadly for obvious reasons (hence this thread), but I do appreciate you for the "alert" as I have been skimming his items on eBay off and on and after reading all of this I will not be dealing with this person now or in the future.

yeah... . a curve is normal, but it's usually an even (subtle) arc. Also, the H part... it usually kind of pulls down the long line (if that makes sense) like its slightly tugging it where it meets. Bronty did a nice article a while back on what to look for.

Dismal seller and sorry to hear. With Ebay, you should be assured of getting your funds back. What you bought was not as advertised, obviously.

As a relatively new buyer of sealed games, these threads are, if anything, educational. Thanks to all for posting about past experiences - helps the rest of us avoid these sorts of shenanigans.

We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the Era we live in; we will sometimes have to sell ourselves and services. If the times demand it, we'll be revolutionaries, criminals, terrorists.
And yes, we may all be headed straight to Hell, but what better place for us than this? It is our only home.
Our Heaven, and our Hell.
This, is Outer Heaven.

The seller refunded me in full for the Popeye and sent a message stating that they could see it was a fake once it was brought to their attention and would not be relisting it for sale. If they truly got fooled (they were pretty good reseals) then I have nothing against them.
