Yeah. If I remember correctly, it's fairly easy to lure them toward the exploding drums and jump away at the last second, but trying to line them all up to hit them with a sign, candle, fire hydrant, etc. is really frustrating.

So last night I was able to beat the game with only two deaths but I didn't have time to snap the picture after beating Shredder. =( I finished with a score of 732. I can do it again though so I'll have something later in the week.

You can pause the game immediately after you beat him.

Good to know!  I was able to beat the game 2 nights ago with only 1 death, but I was to late to pause.  I figured you needed to snap a shot quickly before the closing scene occured.

You have to be quick though as you probably have about 1-1.5 seconds to do it.So as soon as he goes flying mash the pause button.

So it gets to that point then freezes up every time?

I used to until I clipped the lockout chip. Before that, I would push the cart only part way down, and keep it from popping up by bracing it with a double A battery. Although I never had to do that with any other game. Just Ninja Turtles 2. And yes, I would ALWAYS clean my carts and console.

Lockout chip?

yeah, don't 'cha know? There's a chip on the NES that was designed to prevent unlicened games, and games from other regions from being played. Unfortunatly, as the chip and cartridge pins age, the lockout chip tends to develop issues with reading the game carts. When the chip is unable to authenticate the game, the NES will constantly reset the console, causing the red light to flash on and off. For which Nintendos are notorious of doing. One of the best solutions to this, and permanent solutons is to clip one of the pins on this chip. For details on how to do this, (And I think you should definitely consider doing it.) Google "clipping NES lockout chip" and you should find a ton of results.

485. Only doing one run since I racked my brain last time trying to get to the end. Also, it's really nice outside where I live so I'm going to enjoy some day drinking.

Cleared, 2 lives lost, score: 718

Okay, I'm not completely happy with the results since I died twice, but I finally paused the game at the right moment to snap a pic.

I can't beat Krang w/o losing a life. He's easy to manipulate, but his attacks can still be a pain to dodge.  Also miffed because I lost a second life to Shredder by getting turned into a baby turtle.  I got careless.

Score updated... Never really played the NES version that much before this week, didn't own it back then. This was actually one of my favorite games to play at the arcade on the jersey shore growing up though. Along with the Simpsons and X-men...

I honestly believe I could've made it to Krang if the game didn't have so many cheap, practically unavoidable, deaths.

Didn't play much this week. Lost 2 lives on Beebop and 1 here. I struggle with Beebop so bad.

Game Complete - 728 - (2 deaths)

Snapped a good picture this time!  This week was the first time I ever beat this game on one continue let alone under 3 deaths.  Pointwise I'm not up there with the best in the thread but I am very pleased with my result.

Family was in town since Thursday night, so here is one from earlier in the week.

I never had this game, as a kid, but it is now definitely on my list of games I'd like to take the time to improve on.
(it probably took me six or eight attempts to figure out how to kill Rocksteady "safely" enough that I had a spare life to burn killing Beebop... at least Baxter 1 is super-easy)

236 : Level 4 : 2nd death tractor

I'm surprised how many people can get to Shredder in 3 lives. This game is so cheap with some deaths and you have to be pretty precise with the buttons to hit specials and jump attacks. Great work!

I felt like I had about a 10% rate of special attacks working, so I didn't even bother.

My strategy on most enemies was attack once, dodge with a jump, attack again for the kill.

I don't really feel like there were any cheap shots other than the turtles being dumb enough to get put in a full nelson at the slightest contact with a foot soldier.

Off the top of my head, the one that drives me nuts is the falling ice balls in the snow level. Also the bouncing snowmen with rocket noses. You pretty much can't avoid losing life on those 2 parts. At least I can't.
