Q-Bert has 8 levels, with each one having more stipulations on clear requirements than the last. I've never seriously tried to beat it,although I have made it to level 6 before so not sure what's in store after that. Probably even more chaos.

I just know it has a reputation of being one of the most difficult NES games to beat.  Based on my very casual play of it I won't get very far.  I think as a kid I made it to Level 3 ... whichever one it is where the tiles flip back when you jump on them a second time.

Yeah, level 3 is no joke. That's the point where you're going to start to see a separation; those with Qbert brains, and those without

And I'm with guts on the controls, they were completely fine for me from the get-go

Can I use a NES Max with a modded thumbstick on this one?

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

That shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't use turbo functions. Although Q-Bert is pretty much just moving around, so using a turbo function on this game would be pointless.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Hehe so true, all these noobs around here are so embarrassing me, but don't tell anyone

Joking aside, I remember you getting some great scores in some of the past contests. It is always great to see a vet coming back in the action, for the fun naturally!

I was going to participate in the Adventure Island one (last day entry though), but after getting the photo ready I noticed it was for the 2nd game, not for the first one, haha!

EDIT: and I'm coming back with style as you can see, check those neat scanlines

Haha, it happens to the best of us!

Yeah, I noticed you're playing on a goode olde CRT TV, I wish I still had one plugged somewhere in the house. That Nintendo sign looks awesome as well mate!

I think my predictions were a little optimistic. That or that last class was a bunch of prodigies...

It depends. I know at least speaking for myself, my last score took a bit of effort. But the end-level bonuses scale upwards as you get farther in the game. So at least for me, 150K is not out of the question.

Nostradumbass made me lol

Gotta be better than the keyboard I'm using at work, lol. Lately I've been practicing games during the week at work since my home time is kind of hectic, and submitting a score from home when I can. Might need to submit a score from work just to get participation out of the way; almost didn't get to submit a score last weekend from home.

Is there a posted schedule of which games will be featured in the weekly contest? I'm kind of curious about if a few titles will be featured this year(1943 and Silver Surfer in particular)
