I'll guess I need to be the first to post a score, picture is not clear but that's 23630, pretty shitty score, I'm not good but I love this game a lot.

Try turning the lights off in the room, that will help a bit for sure.
That way the TV is the only light source.
Aside from that, perhaps try different focus options.

What type of game is this? Arcade? Puzzle? Strategy? Action? I have a copy on my shelf but never even pulled it out of the plastic bag in the box.

It's a pretty sweet horizontal shooter, plays more like an Atari game than an NES title.  I may actually post a score for this one, I haven't played it in a while and this will give me an excuse.

Dude this game is FUCKING AWESOME!!! Or maybe it's just highly addictive, I'm not sure yet. The music sucks ass but the game play is pretty damn cool, all sorts of power ups and multi-tasking going on makes it interesting.

Just got 40,000 and some change, still haven't even got past phase 2 of the first level yet. I'll be playing for another couple of hours and see how far along I get.

Well I wanted to get into the 6 digits before taking a break, barely cracked the 100,000 barrier:

It's funny, I kept hitting reset on the runs where I died and lost the spread upgrade. With the spread upgrade I kept getting to the snail part of level one, and then would die. Then finally I had a horrible starting run and got to the phase two part with only 2 men and NO power ups. Then by some freak of luck I actually have the best run of the past hour or so and finished with the high score. Made it to the "boss" part and the mermaid killed me before I could even attack.

How dumb is that... I had made it to phase two fully upgraded with 4 or 5 men previously, but when I make it there with no upgrades and 2 men I do the best? Go figure...

Either way someone should be able to score in the 7 digits easily if they can beat the game, I'm having enough problems with level one right now though.

PS - It's a shame this game is so rare because it really is an excellent game. I also think this is one of those games where you need the manual, otherwise you'll have no idea how to upgrade your ship or what the hell to do.

Is anyone else alive out there playing this game? I take back everything I said, this game is just repetitive and annoying. I played three more times today and on the third try I got to phase 3 of level one... level one never ends!!!! I got to the fish piranha things that don't die from your blaster and thought alright I've had enough.

how long'd that take and which phase did you make it too? Unfortunately I'm booked most of the weekend so I doubt I'll have a chance to top it. I'd definitely like to beat the game someday, I'd imagine a score of beating the game would be at least 700k.

Edit: Whoops I misread your score as 400k, lol.  I think my first several runs it was hard enough to push 30-40k so you're right in the ball park for never playing the game before (like me).

Well damn, we just got back from a wedding and I gamed some and got 250k in about a half hour. I was just gonna go to sleep, but after seeing the above post, I might just stay up a bit more. If you go a 2 hour run then I'm assuming you beat the game and wrapped back around to level 1?

Nvm, definitely stopping for tonight, hopefully can game some tomorrow. I'm curious to see what Robbie will be setting the bar at, 7 digits I'm guessing?

Checked twin galaxies, and someone actually scored 11 million in this game... I can only imagine how many hours that run must have took!

well, there are 16 phases, but 1-8 are the same as 9-16, just different sprites. after that the game wraps completely around and you start back at phase 1. i'm starting to slip now in lives, i'm down to 4 - 3 1/2 hours in...

EDIT: there's only 8 phases, they cycle after that. i got confused the first time around.
