We're close to the biggest console release of the century, so for those planning on getting one, what will be the first game you plan on firing up?

Oooh good question. It will be a Famicom game for sure, since I've never played one off of a cart before. I only have 4 to choose from right now since I only just started buying them, but I'm guessing it will be Star Wars

SMB/DH. It will be like day-1 with my NES again.

Then, will likely throw some 72-pin Supervision pirates at it.

Man, good question...

Probably Kirby's Adventure, or Darkwing Duck. Might have to flip a coin

For me, Megaman 2, but same deal.  I threw Mario to the wayside and played MM2 from start to finish then moved onto the other game I got with the system, Strider.  Nearly beat it but ended up stuck juuuuuuust outside of the final boss for 25+ years (finally beat it late last year or earlier this year after giving up and Googling), lol!

Need Stadium Events + Panesian titles, 6-in-1's, Menace Beach, Moon Ranger & Secret Scout to complete my licensed/unlicensed sets.

If you've got any of the above for sale, hit me up!

I am another one who has started buying Famicom games in anticipation of my AVS. First game received and first to be played will be Yie Ar Kung-Fu! I used to love it on the C64.

Would it be worth getting the AVS to play on a standard def CRT via HDMI to RCA adapter? I don't have a high definition CRT and I'd rather not play NES on a flat screen because of lag.

I plan on playing TMNT 2 on CRT with my top loader, then switch over to it on AVS on a 32" Samsung. Wanna see how extra sprites performs.

An HDMI to RCA adapter would have a converter in it (since HDMI is digital and RCA is analog), so I imagine there'll be lag no matter what, unless you're talking those cheap Chinese cables with HDMI on one end and RCA on another that don't work.

Would the converter add a significant amount of lag? I've wondered about that myself.

Not sure when I'll be able to afford one, but the day I do (and I will eventually), it'll be Marble Madness.

Super Mario Bros. or Gun.Smoke. Probably SMB just because it's a classic.

I think it would depend on which one. Bunny's done some testing on the lag on HDTVs, so it might not hurt to check it out and compare to known lag on converters.

I was gonna buy one, but the lack of AV outs kills it. So...nothing I guess.

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."
