Alright guys, fasten your seatbelts as we are about to load over 350 images below.
To this day, I still remember that day I went to my cousin’s home – we used to play video games together almost every weekend – and for the first time, saw him playing the new N64 console that just came out. This was the first time I was looking at the N64 with my own eyes. He was playing Super Mario 64 Whomp's Fortress. It looked amazing and really fun.
Several months later I finally convinced my dad to buy one for me as well. It took a while… I also had the dream of owning all the popular games: Cruis’n USA, F-Zero X, Goldeneye, etc. I think it was pretty much anything Nintendo and Rare published on or before 1999. I also remember having this idea for making money, so that I could purchase all these games. Well, that never worked out and I never owned all the games I wanted, but I did own the ones that I wanted the most and really enjoyed playing them. I could also enjoy other games at friends’ homes, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Fast forward almost 20 years later and that dream that I once had as a 10 year old or so, finally became true. Although I see the games from a different perspective now, it actually happened. I finished my N64 set last year, back in April 2015. It took me over 3 years to collect and just recently I finally got to take a picture of each one of them. That alone took like another year… Now I’m sharing this with you, this is what a complete N64 collection looks like. I hope you find this helpful for your collecting goals.
What sets this collection apart from most other N64 collections is that this one has all the original contents included with the games such as guide offers, registration cards, posters, baggies, advertisements, precautions pamphlets, etc. All games have their own original baggie. There are different kinds of cardboard trays, precautions pamphlets, Midway registration cards, EA registration cards, variants across the same game with multiple print runs, etc. I made sure that all of those contents matched the variant box, manual and cart that I had for each game. Condition was also very important. It was a lot of effort. I did get burned out once, after having 100+ N64 games, mostly sports games in bad condition, that’s when I realized I needed to start over with near mint or better condition items and that made it far more enjoyable for me.
Thanks to all the people in Nintendo Age that helped me achieve this goal.
Really special thanks to cheaterdragon1. Thanks Kevin, I really couldn’t have done it without you.
