You definitely want to dizzy Nick Bruiser for the quick first knockdown, or he can be a real pain in the ass. I lost by time out a couple times trying to beat him for the contest. It's especially annoying how he'll bust one of your arms when you screw up, and you need to alternate left and right punches.

I haven't ever dizzied Nick Bruiser but he gave me the most trouble out of any of the boxers.  I could dodge the arm disable move about half the time

There's a very simple pattern for dizzying Nick Bruiser at the beginning of the fight that _usually_ works.

Start with two quick punches to the head that he won't block, dodge his attack, hit him with three alternating left and right punches and then another two punches to the head (five punches altogether in quick succession), and keep up the pattern until he's dizzy. Sometimes he'll get out of the pattern by blocking, but it usually works.

If you luck out and get the quick first knockdown, it makes the rest of the fight that much easier.

Just did a quick try and this works great!  So now that's 11 out of 16 I've made dizzy.

What other fighters have you not dizzied?

Dizzy is definitely where you get the points. I think each one is worth 3K. If I had more time that would have been my strategy - dizzy each fighter as much as possible without knocking them out. It eventually trumps the time bonus for most fighters.

Looking forward to Mario Kart. Haven't played in a long time. I assume everyone is picking DK Jr.?

A little rusty, but I figured I'd get some times up before I went on vacation. I'll see if I can't kick some more rust off when I get back!

One do-over on Bowsers Castle and you've got me beat Bertt. That 30 second lap is holding your score back.

I need to watch some good line videos for Vanilla Lake 2 that track is a bitch.

I need to look back at my original times. I'm sure I crushed them back in the day. I'll fix that 30 second lap and some. Can't wait to see some good competition on this one!

I'll be interested to try this again as DKJ was never my main character and I've played a ton of Mario Kart 8 and Double Dash in the last year. I have played this game within the last several years though a little.

I couldn't remember if Donkey Kong Jr. definitively has higher top speed than Bowser or not?

I honestly didn't expect to win this contest. I was certain that someone (or several) would best my score. I'll take it though.

You really crushed it!  I was trying to figure out how to make everyone dizzy because that's a pretty clear way I found to increase score.  I'm guessing that's what you did too?  I did the first nine but didn't have time to figure it out beyond that.  I had to look up Bear Hugger though.  His dizzy is really hard to pull off and I was only able to do it once in practice.  I randomly got Rick Bruiser dizzy with rapid punches to the gut, that was cool.

Yeah, dizzying your opponent helps your score significantly. The hardest one for me to pull off was Hoy Quarlow. He's just so damn awkward. The most fun ones to dizzy to me are the more "traditional" boxers like Piston Hurricane,Bald Bull,Mr. Sandman, etc.

hoy quarlow is tricky. i spent the most time on him, trying to figure out what his next move was.i think he's the most fun to play tho.

Haha go for it

With the exception of ghost valley 1 all scores should be able to be improved upon quite a bit. With more runs I'm hoping by the end of the month to be down around 7:40 or less potentially.

I noticed my points on the overall leaderboard are incorrect. My leaderboard points show 10, but I got 1 participation point for Castlevania 4, 5 points for Super Smash TV, and 5 points for Super Punch-Out for a total of 11.

Also, I do not own Super Mario Kart and I have been unsuccessful in securing a copy for the last couple months. If I can't get one by the end of the month, I will have to bow out for April and come back in May.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)
