Ive been really into collecting for the DS lately! What a great little handheld. I'm up over fifty titles now.
Knowimg the DS has no region lock in place I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some English friendly Japanese imports? Shooters, platformers, puzzle games? I will check anything out if it looks interesting.

Thanks in advance to anyone can help!

If you like rhythm games, the Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan games are pretty good. They play the same as Elite Beat Agents, but have different music and characters.

Puzzle Series Volume 5: Slitherlink is a fun puzzle game. Although there is a compilation game that was released in the US called Brain Buster Puzzle Pak that contains Slitherlink puzzles, I'm not sure how it compares to the Japanese game.

I wish I had an extra $100 + for Ketsui! I have a spot for shoot em ups and Cave! Maybe one day I will save some pennies and pick it up. Do you own it? How does it play on the DS?

Also so thanks for the other recommendations too! I'm going to take a look into the puzzle games! I'm not a huge fan of rhythm games though.

There aren't many, sadly. Ketsui's alright, but it's just a boss rush mode. Rhythm-game wise, there are some Taiko Drum Master games that are decently playable as well. Jump! Ultimate Stars is worth a look if you're into Smash-style games and anime. There's also a sequel to Retro Game Challenge, but I don't know how playable it is without knowing Japanese.

Jump Ultimate Stars sounds like a really great one to try. I always has a good time with Smash Bros. Something like that on the go would be great!
