When I really think about it, there a tons of common/classic games that I have never beaten. A lot of these games I've played, but I've never finished. Sure, some of them I've cheated my way through with Game Genie, Game Shark, or Emulators, but that doesn't count.

So what are the common/classic games that you haven't beaten?

• Super Mario 64 (working on it right now)
• The Legend of Zelda
• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
• The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
• The Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past
• Any Mega Man game
• Super Mario Sunshine

I couldn't even beat the first level of Bionic Commando when I tried it last week. I couldn't understand the controls or get a hang of it. I tried for at least a half hour then gave up.

Lots for me since I started mainly with N64 and took many breaks from gaming until now.

Super Mario Bros 1 - can't remember if I ever beat it, but have gotten pretty far
Ocarina of Time - wasn't a fan, but I'll probably try again
Banjo Kazooie - Played it many times, but I have been stuck on the final boss
Any Sonic
Any Mega Man
Any Metal Gear Solid - getting to this soon
Any Final Fantasy - though I've tried, and tried, and tried, but still couldn't bring myself to finish one. I think 6 is the only one worth retrying
Most famous NES games beside Mario 3, Zelda 1, and Kirby's Adventure - besides Mega Man, it'll probably stay this way.

I've beaten some of the hardest NES games out there (Conan, The Mutant Virus, etc), yet I have not beaten SMB.

Zelda 2 gonna finish it some day!!

Super Mario 64, final fantasy 7, banjo kazooie, any halo game, conkers bad fur day, secret of mana, etc.

Zelda 2, Battletoads, TMNT 2 the arcade game. double dragon. The last two are the ones that make me cringe when I see them on my shelf because it is NOT a lack of trying. Have only seen TMNT 2 beat in the two player mode in online video. Can't even find a VIDEO of someone beating it alone. Shredder is relentless, as is the DD boss who has a machine gun. It is literally an unarmed fight against a man with a machine gun. Only NES....

Any Zelda game after A Link to the Past
Any Mario game after Super Mario World
Any Metroid game after Super Metroid except Zero Mission
Final Fantasy 2-5,7-9

Clicked on this thread to say the same thing,  and I just got a copy so now I have no excuse

On Zelda 2, I had no excuse when I got the game. I even had a few weeks with lots of spare time after I quit my job and relocated. 3 weeks with nothing to do but move and beat zelda 2. Brutal. Just walking to the last level has so many battles. Its devastating to arive depleted. I have not since put it back in. Its so frustrating. I also tell myself I will "someday."

Metroid.

Castlevania. I know it's a hard game but I feel like I should be able to beat it. I've only made it to Dracula a couple times.

In another thread I mentioned Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I played yesterday and Soda Popinski worked me pretty hard.

Lion King snes/sega genesis

I can't beat it I just can't. I get pissed off right away when I even start playing.
Like seriously, fuck that riding ostrich level.

Zelda 2 and Castlevania 2 off the top of my head. I doubt I'll ever get around to beating them.

Anything Zelda or Mario after the 16-bit years (also, Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land 2)
Any Final Fantasy except I, IV, and Mystic Quest
Any Castlevania except I, II, and IV
Any Contra game (I did the original with the 30-man code, and Super C with the 10-man code)
Almost any FPS or 3D platformer you care to name

None of these bother me -- I'll get around to some of them, won't bother with others -- but you know what drives me nuts? Despite tons of attempts, I never was able to beat Shaq Fu on Expert mode, either on the SNES or Genesis. That one still sticks in my craw.

Heh, I know what you mean. I did beat that game, but it was many thrown controllers later. Level two is abnormally hard compared to what follows.

I never beat the second or third Marios. I never beat Gradius or Lifeforce, even with the codes. I never got past the ice level in Batman: Return of the Joker.

Oh, and Abadox. That level with the DOWNWARD vertical scrolling where the path zig-zags can go f itself.

I've never beat my all time favorite arcade game, Tempest. I can only make about 2/3rds through.

I have never beat a pinball machine. Can you beat pinball machines?

Ive never finished LTTP, I thought link between worlds was great though. Dragon Quest is my second favorite game series, yet I havent finished all the games yet, also Ghost and Goblins. Probably never gonna finsih that one.

I shared this secret shame up until about 2 weeks ago.  I just forced it, after years of King Koopa taunting me with those fucking hammers I just sat down and barreled my way though.  Best win of a video game I've ever had.  Certainly a long time coming.

Funny thing was after the win, I played through the "harder" version and didn't die once.
