Yes it is, and I thought you might.  Figured I'd give you a good reason to improve your score.  I got caught up trying to beat Rampart and have my score count correctly on the scoreboard.  Wasn't able to make it happen, so I played some Trojan.  I beat the game at around 147,000 points before deciding to point press.  Very tedious.  Have fun!  Over 500k should be possible.

The controls take some getting used to. It's another one of those "press up to jump" style games along the same lines as Kung Fu and Rush n Attack. Remember that you can aim your shield by holding the A button and using the directional pad.

Is it just me, or does the jumping seem inconsistent? I’ve also got decent at blocking, but that red asshole keeps blowing up my shield and sword.

You can also slash projectiles with your sword instead of blocking with your shield. You need to do that for the guy who can blow up your shield.

And I have noticed inconsistent jumping. Like sometimes I'll try to jump forward in order to jump over something but instead jump straight up and die.

Heres something decent for my first score, this was before I was able to beat the 3-1 boss with the giant club.  Now that I've figured out his pattern he's easy.  I like that this is one of those games where you seem to noticeably improve every time you play it, the difficulty curve is perfect

Because no one is going to pay any attention to this, I'm going to spill the beans on what I had planned for the comic I started this year off with.

The main duo, geno and Belmont, are recycled characters from an old comic I did called meet the mushroomies, a comic about a couple of nerds who found a magic Nintendo and traveled the multiverse with it.

In the wake of the kickle infection, and the death of captain n, geno convinced Belmont to take up the quest to find captain n's gear.

Battling their way through all the game we would be paying in the contest this year, we would learn that geno is actually THE geno from smrpg. Belmont is the chosen one and related to, no not the Belmonts of Castlevania, but a descendant of captain N. The day would have been saved and kickle would have been killed off for good again, or is he?

But lack later thread banter made me decide not to go through with the project. The kickle figurines project is also on hold.

I know that I can get over 400k. It's a matter of not fucking up my point pressing on the last stage.

Is there a consistent method for getting the 1up on stage 4 or is it all luck?

I haven't gotten the 1up every attempt, so not sure.  I didn't point press the last level.  Good luck!

I think I might be done for this week. From a point pressing angle I can't do a whole lot better without actually getting good at the game, and the final boss on stage 3 is not easy for me. I might give it a few more attempts but might just lay low and practice an upcoming game instead of playing Trojan (plus I have some Switch and OG Xbox games I wanna play).

I hate to say it but mbd has been besting me at every turn.

Heads up, guys. I tested and the random 1up in level 4 can be grabbed more than once after dying. I don't know if it's possible to keep collecting it indefinitely because eventually your luck runs out, but you can collect it a few times. (I absolutely did not abuse this in my high score run. I only collected it once.) I dunno why this wasn't caught in the previous contests.

A one life rule or low score contest would be a good idea for next time this game comes up. It would also mercifully make the runs shorter.

As always with the contests, no 1up loops allowed, even if I haven't explicitly mentioned it in the rules.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Don't feel too bad. I've been playing Trojan for a few years now. I've no-deathed it. I also learned the best point pressing spot.

I was surprised that I bested you at NARC though. That contest should have been yours.

So much potential in this, and more Kickle insanity and hilarity. The contest will need to spark up again so you can dedicate yourself to this thing.

Just participation this week.  I forgot everything I knew about Trojan from the last time I played it.

Guys, you can have almost 200k just from killing enemies on level 1, but it takes forever. And it's not the best level for point pressing.

Aw man, I was hoping to see some sweet footage of you playing Trojan.

(I paid like $2 plus $4 shipping for my Trojan cart and it works great.)
