Alright everyone!
I already know I have done tetris but this weeks is gonna be fun!

Try and get the lowest score possible
Rules:

Fill up as much of the screen as possible with bricks but keep your score low! You must have 0 lines.

-count up the number of blank spaces you have on screen
-add your score
-lowest total wins (lowest possible score with this formula = 20)

Starting level... 10
Participation: 0 lines

Ends Next Sunday at 9 pm central time!

No name in picture=-score doesnt count

I still need donations for prizes so if anyone has anything they are willing to get rid of let me know!
Thanks!
Jeremy

I assume you mean Nintendo's Tetris? And from what I gather, we'd start with an empty playing field (no junk to start) and at speed level 10? How do you hit 10 when the numbers only go 0-9? I can't remember...

Edit:

Well, here's my first one that's sort of decent (never was very good at Tetris)

I just assumed he meant level 9... with level zero being "1" and 9 being "10"...

Anywho, best I could get. Actually had the cart for this one... had to make a movie, play back the movie, and take a picture of that... hope that's good enough?

Blanks: 46
Score 28...

Are we allowed to submit more than once or is the first one the final one?

Yeah, on the carts the screen fills up when you die so there's no chance to take a pic to see how many empty spaces were left.

you get as many tries as you like until the contest ends. just edit your original post. put your current score in big font at the top of the post.

so we include our actual points on top of the empty squares? is that necessary? going for a solid pattern is already tough at this speed and after 20 years i have no idea how points are awarded for placing pieces. my 2 cents.

This is an awesome contest, I love the concept.
It's damn near impossible getting a screenshot though...

@Lincoln: It's not hard at all to get 0 score... I won't reveal too much but I'm sure you'll figure out what I mean soon enough

Try recording it, then playing it back, if that's allowed

Not a bad idea but I don't wanna record hours of pointless footage until I get a score I'm happy with (and trust me, I'm not that good at Tetris so I will need hours) :/

I think instead I'll just use an emulator, and quickly click off the emulator window to pause the game, then take a screen dump.

You start at Level 10 by highlighting Level 0 and pressing A when you hit Start.

If you're playing on a console, I think this will be the easiest way to capture a screen shot.  Also, you can submit as many scores as you would like throughout the course of the contest.  We just ask that you please edit your original post each time you want to update your score and put your score at the top of your post in a big font.  Not only does it make it easier for the participants to see the submitted scores, it makes it easier for me to update the leaderboard every week so that I don't have to search through tons of posts to record the scores.

Easiest way to get a screenshot (if it doesn't bother your concentration enough) is to make that movie, but only by starting recording a few moments before you hit the top - if you've done well that time. I played through half a dozen times, but only recorded two of them.

Edit:

Oh, and I managed a 0 score somehow - no clue how, though...

just fyi, you get points when you force a piece down into place. if you let the pieces fall naturally, you get 0 points.

Didn't have a lot of time to play this game this past week.  This score works though.  It was a fun contest, though.

I'm sorry, Scucci, but I cannot accept your score. You played on Level 9 and the rules stated that you were supposed to play on Level 10.
