Just posted this in FK thread as well but some background info is that a local garage sale I visited a few days back had the promise of more items in the future.  The guy working told me his family was supposed to be bringing more gaming stuff within the next few days, so for the past 3 mornings I have cruised over to the sale at opening, and was told "tomorrow".  Today the guy said come back around 2 and he guaranteed me the stuff would be there.  I head back right around 2, and hazzah!  a giant Sega CD lot.  I (hardly) ever buy Sega, but I'm fairly certain I got a killer price on this.  Please give me some insight to how I did.  The Blockbuster hard rental case is in MINT condition, and the console reflects this as well... looks to be never/ hardly used.  Only a few of the cased games are missing the foam insert; they all are complete (expect Batman... only the box is there, no disc or manual).  I took a seperate picture of the "valuable" games to my knowledge, but again I'm no expert on Sega.. I just looked up these prices on eBay before buying the lot; Third World World is sealed.  Most of the game cases and contents are mint.  I was very dissapointed that the only scratched up disc was the most expensive: Popful Mail.  It only has a few light-looking scratches, yet I tested it and it won't get past the load screen (comes up "error screen").  The good thing is that I hope it can be cleaned at the local Family Video; I'm on my way up there within the hour.  Also, the manual for Popful Mail is mint (like the case) and still has the registration card attached and unmarked.  Please check out the pictures and let me know what the spitball value is of everything... thanks!

Edit: sorry for the sideways pictures; they are the correct way on my PB but it's been being lame lately.  Also, the game with intense glare is Ecco the Dolphin (with Dark Wizard next to it on the right, which is also full of glare).

Ahhh I was hoping you'd have an estimate DQ!  I know you are a big Sega fan.

I snagged it all for $375... talked the guy down from $400 but he wasn't budging much.

Sorry :/ Im not too knowledgeable on Sega CD, just have the handful of games and a CDX so I'm not even sure the value on that model 2 combo. Havnt looked into it for a while. Pretty cool tho! That sounds like a pretty fair price for all that tho! I'd bet you could get about $500-$600 if you were looking to flip everything right away. Just my guestamate. That's a cool case! Not sure the value there!

The price you paid, is about $50 lower than what all the games will retail for. Here's approximately what some of the pricier titles go for:

Popful Mail - $150-175 (if you can get it to work, otherwise it loses significant value)
Batman $25-30 (if you hand the disc), maybe $10 for just the box.
Dark Wizard - $25-30.
Spiderman - $25-30
Lawnmower Man - $30-40
Star War - $10-15
The rest of the games are in the $7-$12 range.

I'm not sure what a sealed Third World War would go for though.

The price of the games plus the system and that sweet rental case probably make the whole lot somewhere in the $500-$550 range. I'd say you got a fair deal at $375.
This is just an estimate though. I'm not sure what that case is actually worth. It's just really how much someone would be willing to pay for it. There was one with the system in the last "Game Chasers" episode. The store wanted $200 for it, and Jay said it had been sitting there for months.

From my experience, parting out a Sage CD lot and selling each game individually can take months. The valuable and desirable games like Popful Mail will sell instantly, but games like Jeopardy, Ground Zero Texas, Jurassic Park, ect... will take some time to sell.

Hows the system work? Is sega cd working good? System and popful mail and dark wizard pays for this and rest is bonus. I just paid 180 for a mint popful and third time (and last) i buy this game to own such a great game. Its going to only get more and more valuable.

Thanks for chiming in boys. I listed the case for $300 OBO on feebay, as there is another one at $350, yet includes the Model 2 system (yet the case is not as nice as mine) so I guess I'll go from there.

Here is an update... kind of unsure how I feel about the outcome of my realization(s).
1. Popful Mail is defiantly the highlight game. I want to say I searched it on eBay around halfway thru looking up all the titles; after seeing the price I didn't want to waste anymore time, and went and bought it.
2. Popful Mail was kind of scratched up, but nothing too bad (which is why I was bummed it didn't play)
3. I went to Family Video, got it cleaned... looks crispy; still shows one or two of the slight scratches, but barely anything left and I guess they did the lightest setting to not shave off more than needed (as the disc was already in decent shape)
4. Came home, popped it in, and bam.. still no-go. I was very bummed, but then I figure I'd make sure it wasn't the system. It ends up the disc reader is bunk (I tried about 5 games... all in good shape, and non of them worked). I don't understand what is wrong as the system looks so crispy and nice, but I'm guessing the laser reader just went dead, maybe hopefully? I read it is around a $30 fix (again though, I know NOTHING about Sega, let alone Sega CD).

Yeah it was the newer episode where it was in a store that was going out of business. The price tag on it was $199, but the business was selling everything for 50% off-- but I wouldn't say the case with the system would be $100, the store was just trying to get rid of everything.

I get what you're saying.  The point I was trying to make was that it sat there for months at $200 and no one was buying it, only when the price was lowered to $100 did someone consider buying it.  This leads me to believe that if you can find the right buyer, someone may pay up to $200 for it, but it's most likely work less than $200.

Awesome pick up! I only ever find crappy disc only games in my area. I'd love to find something like that.
