I highly recommend:

-Both Castlevanias (other than the one you have mentioned)
-Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
-Professor Layton and the Curious Village

If you like old school shoot em up games, I thought Nanostray 2 was a solid game well worth 15$
If you liked the first 3 Contras, I couldn't say enough about Contra 4. My favorite DS title.
Mario Kart was great
I Second Zelda and Castlevania's

I always liked the Club house games.
Since it was just re-released it should not be hard to find.

I've heard that Order of Ecclesia isn't that great, but I've never played it. Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow is an excellent game IMO, and I'm just now getting into Portrait or Ruin. If you like riddle type games, Professor Layton is remarkable, as mentioned.

I had a lot of fun with ninjatown, also I second the Castlevania games.

Others...
Picross - Tons of play for your money
Ace Attorney Games
Clubhouse Games
N+ - Another great value
Mario Kart
New Mario Bros
Zelda

Thats all I can think of at the moment

That game had me SO frustrated. This is a great game, extremely tough, and highly frustrating. Well worth the money, IMO if you like a good dexterity/puzzle type game.

Ninjatown is really fun, if a little cutesy. I got a lot of mileage out of the first Castlevania as well. I also enjoyed most of the ported RPGs.

I personally didn't like Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Dawn of Sorrow was good, and I haven't played Order of Ecclesia yet (not until Christmas anyways).

I must say, i'm a little disappointed in the New Super Mario Bros

i've had this thing all of 3 days maybe, played maybe a total of 2 hours, i'm at level 8 with about 50 lives...

whatever happened to a good old challenging game?

Another high recommend for Professor Layton and the Curious Village, its just a fun puzzle/searching game. Anyone tried the personal trainer cooking game yet?

^ Heh, I saw a commercial for that cooking trainer game. Looked pretty sweet.

Yes, New Super Mario Bros was fairly easy, but still a very good game. May I suggest Yoshi's Island DS.  Some of the later levels are extremely challenging.

If you didn't like New Super Mario Brothers because it was too easy; be prepared to not like Phantom Hourglass for just the same reason.

EDIT: Now that I think of it...if you want a bit of challenge go buy Castlevania: Order of Ecclessia. This is one surprisingly tough game. Probably the best Castlevania in years IMO.

Personal Trainer Cooking is fun. Girlfriend loves it.

and please give Zelda a try. It is phenomenal.

I'm just starting to play Mystery P.I. - Portrait of a Thief. will let you know if it's any good.
