Were there really that few nominations for best writer I can think of five multiple-submission writers off the top of my head who really deserve to be honored here. I guess I'm at fault for not submitting nominations though, I just figured with the 100 posts or so that Bella's original thread got, there'd be more nominations.

Yeah, I think more categories were suggested than nominations for any of them. Oh well!

I don't think this is the same one Bella was working on, or at least that's the impression I got at first glance.

One suggestion if you were looking for feedback, you might want to think about changing the best newly released proto category to best newly available game as Spy vs Spy 2 and Ultimate Frogger Champion both kick ass, but aren't protos.

My thoughts exactly.  As some people mentioned, the general nomination group seems small for all categories, but writers are especially horrible.  We only have 3 good writers on this site?  "Writer" shouldn't just be limited to the eZine either, I'd say Arch and DragonLunch write well, though DL uses some of the most asinine analogies I've ever seen (no offense bud).  Even MrMark made a thread about the Wizardry jacket ( http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/... ) and many people complimented his writing abilities.

Great job putting together some meaningful categories with solid nominations, it just seems a tad "rushed" with limited options.  However, I do think that the "Newly released proto" category might be a very close race....

I'm sure that to people that wrote games, i.e. Kevin, the difference between a "proto" and a "new game (i.e. homebrew)" is significant.  I know it would be to me.

e:  Even if they are too nice to say anything about it.

Does that make me the asshole?  Being involved in releasing a game this year and someone included in the poll, I don't think I came off as an asshole.

Keep fighting the good fight dude.

Mark, I wasn't calling you an asshole, it was more of a rhetorical comment.  You were completely correct in what you said.

Jeez...chill out a little bit.

^^^ You were my favorite new member

I think the Awards are just going through growing pains and not everybody read about the nominations. These things take time to get traction and for everyone who should be, to be recognized.

Also, Mark, if it makes you feel any better, I voted for Hoppin Mad yesterday.

I see everyone complaining about the writers that have been nominated, but they only put up the ones that were nominated. It's your fault for not nominating them to begin with.
