Hi Everyone, I was an early submitter of games to Wata and wanted to share one of the CIB certified games I received back.  Being mainly a sealed collector seeing a CIB certified copy has led me down the CIB path.......eek!  I am finding it fun as there are sealed games I will never be able to acquire in early first print versions so this is filling a gap for me.  The case is extremely sturdy, it provides great detail to the contents including grade for box, game, and manual as well as displays nicely in my opinion.  I will be updating this thread with more CIB and Sealed Wata Certified Games

For others who have been asking for case shots, we will be updating our website with a scrolling gallery of select games we've graded so far. Also, we've been listening to your feedback and have changed our labels since to have larger font in certain places, namely the game title. Here are some samples for those curious (without the font update):

Box graded a 7.5, cart and manual are 9.6.  There is no 9.5; 9.0 to 10.0 are in .2 increments.  Breakdown for CIB grading is: Box-50%, Cart-30%, Manual-20%, rounded to nearest grade, so 8.55=8.5 overall

Ok I'm confused, what's wata exactly? I knew of the shaky ground VGA stands on for years now, but I knew there were a couple other grades years ago that didn't turn out so well by their own design. Is this another one but somehow validated and trusted?

They look good but the fact that N64 and SNES and turned right-side up kills those for me.

What does WATA need to list a game as CIB? Every insert that was included, or just cart, box manual?

I'm a little surprised they use the word "cart" instead of "cartridge." I know cart is what everyone says, but it's still sort of an informal shortening of cartridge. Does Nintendo ever use the word "cart?"

I believe it is box, cart and manual only for their definition of cib. They will note additional contents if included but will not grade them.  You can send a cart and box as well for grading

And to clarify, we do grade GSI's or Game Specific Inserts. They do not factor into the overall grade but receive individual grades, i.e. maps, posters, or other inserts that were only included in that game. Everything else is noted on the label, and the pre-grading photos of every CIB include front and back shots of all the components. When the Wata app is live, you will be able to access high-res photos of all the contents by scanning the Matrix or via the user dashboard on the website.

What does White Mountain Pedigree mean?

If it can be verified with 100% certainty, Wata verifies and notes games that come from pedigree collections. While pedigrees are more commonplace in Comics and Coins due to the historic significance of collections that have surfaced over the years (and due to the longer existence of those collectibles), there are certain collections in video games that are noted and can be considered Pedigree. In this instance, this game was verified to be sourced from the White Mountain Collection, which is indeed a Pedigree that exists in comics. The owner of the White Mountain Collection marked his comics (and other collectibles) with a very unique and distinct marking, as is seen on the back of the Sqoon.

BTW - congrats on the ps2 set!!

Nintendo uses Game Pak, never cart/cartridge/tape.  Since other companies don't have that trademark the generic version is better, and since there is limited space the shortened version is best.

Not to mention most people will be searching online for "cart", not the whole word, so there's an SEO benefit as well.

I know there is another WATA thread but can anyone tell me the price range for submissions? I'm considering my sealed Friday the 13th.

Interestingly, in the "burn-in/test cartridge" shown above by superNESman, if Nintendo had gone with the shortened "cart," then the text would have fit better, neatly centered inside Mario's rectangle.

Roughly 30-100 depending on speed, additional options etc.
