Can we expect to see price gouging for Raid 2020 next year?

This is one of those games were I wouldn't be surprised if people start asking alot more for simply because of the name. It's still a relatively unknown title to most people but let's say for example the AVGN does an episode on it, I can see it jumping way up in price. If that happens, what about Super Baseball 2020?

So you're saying price jump because of the year? I don't think so. Did Street Fighter 2010 sky rocket that year?

Even if it spikes for 3 months or so it will most likely drop back down because at the end of the day its still a uncommon dreadful game.

It might jump a little if AVGN does a video (he hinted at doing one way back, but it might have been a one off joke.) But that's typical of games he mentions that are uncommon and cheap, and people snag up the underpriced BINs off the Bay.

Street Fighter 2010 was before the whole retro craze happened but I remember it did go up a little bit as I was working at a game store at the time.

Yeah, if anything the matching year would only be a tertiary selling point, price jumps like this are almost always cause of the Youtube

EDIT: Not that its unlikely or anything... isnt Raid 2020 one of the more playable Color Dreams games?

I don't think so. There is nothing else appealing or interesting about the game. And I don't know of any other example of the year of plot setting affecting price in the collector market. At most it will be a fun thing for fans of the game, if there are any. Like when I watched Soylent Green yesterday (it was fun to see Oceanographic Survey, 2015-2019) or like 10/21/15 was for BTTF fans.

Kinda, though it's not saying much. The storyline is unintentionally hilarous, though.

I highly doubt that the year is gonna make that much of a difference. The question at hand is: are more people going to care about that game next year?

Price gouging generally applies to necessities. I don't think Raid 2020 will be considered a necessity.

Neither is the non Not For Resale Sonic 1 and left bros. SMB 3. but someone decided to hype them up and hot damn, look what they go for now. Will they ever come down in price? Probably, but the point is someone can hype up a common game because it's getting more exposure on Youtube/Social Media and sell it for way more than what it's worth because they know people will give in to the hype.

Same, I waited over 10 years for it to happen hahaha
Also it's not gonna skyrocket because it sucks. It's uncommon, sure, but it's still one of the more common Color Dreams games, def ain't no Moon Ranger
