Hardly, all he did was demonstrate an already existing security flaw. It didn't "cause" the attack, but was only a factor in it. The biggest factor IMHO being that the security flaw exists on a site that is so widely used, followed closely by there being a ton of people willing to abuse such security flaws. The fact that he found it today instead of someone else tomorrow hardly caused the attacks.
