So there's been a lot of talks about the N64 sealed variants / big box games, but I haven't seen the same list captured for SNES.  Let's see if we can try and get one together!

If you look at the pics below, I recently picked up a sealed Primal Rage w/ Trading Cards, looks like a Toys R Us exclusive.  Seller had two apparently, someone bought one, then someone else bought the second, yet never paid.  I happened to see that one as it was relisted and was very happy to snag it!

I pinged SNESFinder about some of these, but curious for other inputs as well.  What variants do we know about?

Adventures of Mighty Max - Unconfirmed, maybe a VHS addon?
Addams Family Values - VHS Tape
Bomberman - Small Box (Non-Party Pack)
Captain Novolin - Loaner Sleeve
David Crane's Tennis - Footlocker Coupon
Final Fight Guy - Black Version (Non retail?)
Flintstones The Movie - Sealed w/ Movie
Earthworm Jim 2 - Alternate Artwork (White Background, non-retail)
Illusion of Gaia - T-Shirt Bundle
Lethal Enforcers - Small Box
Maximum Carnage - Big Box QVC Set
Mechwarrior Gift Pack
Metal Combat - Big Box w/ Light Gun
Pac-Man Adventures - With Coupon
Primal Rage - Trading Cards
Spider-Man X-Men - Box Variant (CES?)
Tony Meola's Soccer - Footlocker Coupon
Turtles in Time - Farley's Snack Coupon
Zombies Ate My Neighbors - Box Variant

Let's see if we can get a list together!  And these are pictures of the Primal Rage I mentioned:

Edit:

Adding some pictures of some of the other variants for people who have not seen them before:

One of the versions for Adventures of Mighty Max looks like it came packed with a VHS like Addams Family Values and Flintstones The Movie, but I've never seen a sealed one.
You can tell by the bar code they added to the front of the boxes and the sticker over the back bar code (because the VHS covered it when packed in).

I know you had a CIB for sale, so I'm surprised you didn't notice it?

List updated!

And yes, I knew the Mighty Max had a variant with the UPC on front (like Flintstones Movie / Addams Family), but I can't confirm it until I see the package all sold at once. As a box with just a UPC sticker, I don't consider that much of a variant.

Keep any ideas coming!

is the back of the sleeve itself that had the checkout form like the old library cards where the patient checked it out or was that a seperate item?

lol. So why didn't you add it to the list as uncomfirmed to see if anyone has one laying around?

The variant for Mighty Max is that there are both Made in Mexico and Made in Japan versions of the game..

Yes, the loaner sleeve had a checklist on the back.

I know there was a NBA Jam TE with a poster that had all the cheats on it. I got it at Target back in the day. I know when sealed it had some notation stating it had this bonus poster. Do not know if it was on the box or just a sticker sort of thing. I know it is long gone from my fire years ago so I cant show anyone it. However I can guarantee its existence.

Great list. Only thing Id change is that zombies is retail. The original version was prior to the ratings system; the alt box appears to be a late reissue w/new box.

If it was a non retail version put out at at the same time as the normal box, it would not have the rating on the box

as for why its so rare Id guess it was a geographically targeted thing.   Southern US/ Mexico perhaps, similar to other targeted releases like Chavez 2 ?   the Latin population might not have identified with 50s white picket fence housewife on the normal cover?

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

^ if we are able to get a hold of him for the documentary I can just ask the art director who was in charge of the box, or the artist. I know who both were.

Well I'm only keeping it to major variants... otherwise you'd have to include all of the "Display Only" box variants too. Are any of those actual artwork differences or are they just same artwork with blank CES backs? The spider-man x-men would be much more sought after since it is an entirely different artwork, when compared to these that are only blank backs.

Yes both barbie and we're back have differences. We're back has a totally different slogan, barbies photo is zoomed out. Both are before the box was finalized, similar to spiderman in that regard.

As for the acclaim ces boxes I do not believe they have any art difference other than the backs like you said. Although I do consider them oddball rarities.

I clarified the title to be significant variants, looking for changes in artwork or other significant changes.

Also added the EWJ2 alt box, even though I'm pretty sure I've only seen buyatari's copy.

So what was your pic of that you deleted?

I know you outbid me on a second We're Back box and I didn't bid on that Indiana Jones, but I picked up Barbie, Clatfighter 2 Judgement Clay, and Beethoven from that seller.  Some other guy here won the 2nd style of the Super Bomberman small box lol
