I know these don't come up for sale often. What's the going rate on them?

It kind of depends, didn't know they were called panda either. I had one about a decade ago now which came from Sega as I was reviewing Sonic Rush and for some screwy reason never wanted it back. I'm not sure it would be much of anything if it's empty other than a curiosity unless someone had the writer tools for it. Now if it had a game, even if it was published, then you'd have more value, and if it were unpublished the limit would be your imagination I guess depending what was there.

Also if you undo that screw in the picture, it's a little compartment for various sizes of saving chip in there depending on whatever game you have there would need to save with.  It could be empty, you could have an extra useful part in there.

I did not find much which I'm sure you already know.

Looks like a minimum in retail would be like $600 and I'd say even more if you target the right person. Did one really go for over $1k+? That's pretty awesome.

If you can get it around the $500 mark, I'd gamble.

The system is a development unit. Dsi and 3ds I believe were both called pandas?

Oh my eye went to the cart, not the system. I don't recall if they were panda or not with the DS. I just saw the rewriteable cart out of the top and that's what I went towards. I don't really remember any specific development systems because the hardware would just read the cart stick in the top as the stuff would be formatted for a DS to read it but those were evaluation copies and late betas.

With Dsi and 3ds dev carts I believe they can only play on the Pandas. Prior ds carts could play on a standard ds system.

The system has a 2 tone lid that is black and silver fade. The 3D switch and game port are red. It has a dev menue on start up.The dead ringer is it say development unit on back...lol

Great! I knew some of the other Nintendo console dev units said "development unit" on the back label, but did not know if this one did or not. Pretty sweet. Did you pick that bad boy up?

Added the DSi to the mix. Which makes sense being called "Panda" hence the black and white.

If you decide to sell it and get a price, can you keep the thread updated. I'm curious. Thanks bud.

You should hit up the fine folks at http://www.assemblergames.com... . This kind of item is common place there. I can tell you that the big thing that will effect value is content. I was really surprised how little the blank units go for. I almost pulled the trigger on a RVT-H (hard drive wii dev unit) for $300.

I haven't seen much info on assemblers for these units. Have been a member over there for a few years.

I know they do their price check a little bit differently, but I am surprised if they couldn't come up with a ball park.

Looks like new a 3ds panda costs $325.

Those prices have been leaked for some tme now. They are for licsensed developers to purchase. Try and log in over on Warioworld and see how far you get. There is a large premium on these units much more then the original leaked price.

I understand and agree. No strings attached is an important feature. The new price is just one data point. Some Nintendo dev kit cost 5-10k new. Obviously two completely different ball parks.

Anyone who is looking to sell at that price I would be the right buyer. Putting a price to something the majority of people can't buy and the ones that can aren't sappose to sell is difficult.

Just wanted to say good luck, interested to see the "public" price on these rather than the official dev price, as we know not everyone has access to big N's order site.

I named my unit "Sad Panda", Mainly cuz it sat so quiet next to my Vita which I would constantly threaten to throw against the wall. Debug's a bitch.

These are all really cool and very difficult to come by. Right place right time pocket full of cash seems to be how it works.
