Hey guys,

I was looking to sell my copy of Bubble Bobble Part 2 and I know it fetches for a pretty penny, however the copy that I own has some cartridge damage.

The label itself is in great condition but it appears as if the previous owner spilt bleach or something on the cartridge. I've tried to clean it with rubbing alcohol and windex but it doesn't come off.

I don't know if anyone esle has a method they think would work?

I would also like to know how much you think I can sell this game for with the damage? Also, if I could get the bleach or whatever it might be off of the cartridge, how much is Bubble Bobble selling these days?

If you would like to make an offer as well feel free.

Thanks

If a nintendo cart could tell a story. It looks to me like acid wash. I use this stuff called mudslide at work to remove concrete and if you let it sit, it leaves those same streak marks. I would say it's gotta be a similar diluted acid.

@ Drew, you're thinking Paul.

Does the game still play fine? Any damage to the pins?

No it plays perfect. I took the game apart when I first got it and polished the pins and it works like a champ.

No idea how this would affect the price of the game, but if you decide on a price let me know, I may be interested if it's reasonable

It seems that BB Part 2 has sold for $98 and $156.99 on eBay, which is a huge gap. Both carts were loose too. I'm not quite sure why there's such a huge price gap. Any ideas?

I know NA is saying BB Part 2 is averaging at $100

The price of this is arounf the $100 range in very good condition. I don't see this selling for more than $50 - $60(maybe even less) but I'm a really picky guy so there might be someone there who might prove me wrong.

Looks like someone blew a bubble and a bobble or something all over that. What is that white stuff?

Yeah, I'd contact Paul to see if he's interested... In this condition, I could see probably $60-$70 or so, since it's not something a simple swap of cart backs could fix...

You may want to try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on that cartridge. I've used it to clean many of my cartridges and I know it does wonders on permanent marker and things like that. If that don't work try using some nail polish remover on the cartridge just remember if you do any experimentation do it on the back cover of the cart first. That way if you do any damage you won't hurt the value of the cart much because the back can be swaped out. Just try using different chemicals and I'm sure you'll find something that will take the white stuff off.

I sold my BB2 awhile back for $80 and it was in much better conditon. I would say around $60-$65 for this one since most people who would spend that kind of money for a cart would want a nice looking cart. But if you can get that white stuff off I would say around the $85-$100 range.

It looks like Hydrogen Peroxide could also have been the culprit, I found out the hard way when I tried cleaning a cartridge with Peroxide .

Thanks for all the insight and tips guys.
I honestly have know idea what the white stuff is. I thought it might be bleach or something.

I bought this at a garage sell for $.50,that's right and it had this white stuff on it.

I was both super excited and a little heart broken when I found it.

Well the magic eraser might get it, but they also will file down your rough surface to a smooth one too. Soaking it a bit (keep the label safe) in alcohol might help as I've leeched out similar stuff that way. It really comes down to if it's bleached out on the coloring as you're screwed, or if it's something on or got into the plastic as that may come off with work.

What's strange is when I tried to clean the white stuff off, which I've tried several times, it disappears while it's wet from the alcohol, but once it dries, the white stuff shows up again.

It really looks like the plastic is discolored from some harsh chemical or something like that. If that is the case you are not going to get it off. My suggestion is put it on ebay and you may be surprised how much someone will pay for a game they really want. Some people buy simply to play and don't care about condition. As far as a damaged cart goes this is pretty minor, in other words the label itself is in nice shape.

I'd buy it like that, but not what you'd want for it. I don't like paying more than roughly $30 on a NES game, or any 'old' retro title at all. Hell I won't pay $60 for a new one either except in exceptional rare cases as I'll wait for a drop, sale or coupon to get it back to $50 or less. I'm not cheap, I'm just not stupid, and I am patient. I had a beauty of a BB2 cart over a decade ago, it's a loss I wish I never took seeing where the price has gone on it as I could give a shit about rarity it was fun to play.

I see you responded on my alcohol thing. I've had that happen on a cart I had. I never could figure out a way to remove that kind of white out, so odds are short of resurfacing the cart it's screwed.

Thanks for the offer Tanooki and RetroNESNerd thanks for the suggestion on putting it on eBay. I feel that's what I'll probably end up doing. I rather selling it on NA, but I keep getting offers for $50 and I know I can get more. Time will tell

If you have the nerve, find a later release with the same back, swap the boards, and remove the donor cart label. take a hair dryer and heat up the BB2 label for a few minutes and peel it off. Immediately attach it to the donor cart and viola, a perfect BB2 cart. If you do not have any experience in this, get a few cheap carts and practice on them. There is probably a thread on how to do this but I am too lazy to find it and link it. This is an extremely gutsy solution but if you do it correctly, it will look great and you can expext full retail price for the game. CAUTION, ONLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS SHOULD ATTEMPT THIS, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Or maybe you should, WTF do I know?

Mr. Nintendo if I had the manual I would sell it to you...but I don't, sorry.

laserman81, I was just wondering if anyone had ever attempted such a feat. I don't know if I have the nerve to do it. I would probably get so nervious I would throw up everwhere while performing the procedure...okay a tad bit of an exaggeration.

Thanks for the tip though.
