Hey guys, So my girlfriend was going through our storage and put this in my lap and said why do we have this? I was like WOW that's awesome! I remembered that I took it from my grandparents house years ago with plans to do something with it but never did. Now Its my tiny gaming TV

Anyone else have little console top TVs like this?

This ones actually quite a good set, its color and has like 6 knobs on the side to adjust everything from contrast to V scrolling and surprisingly good sound. Only thing I wish it had was RCA jacks... I really don't like the antenna cable connector, spits out too much buzzz.

That's cool as hell! Fits perfectly on top of your toaster. Is it the same size as the NES front to back as well?

I'll try to get pictures of mine up within the next 24hours. I think mine is smaller than that. Although it might also be only black and white.

I have this little guy that I found at goodwill. It's great because it has AV inputs, and both AC and DC plugs, so I can use it at home or in the car.

Those are so cute! I have seen incredibly small CRTs (like 1" diagonal) in some old test equipment, I should get one for a portable NES!

It's a little longer in the back, so its actually might be best with the system on top. But I have no idea where I might put it lol. Perhapse in my grandparents garage, that's where I do a lot of projects, so might be fun. It is small enough to put just about anywhere though, I just have no space left in my apt.

@minimog: I like that one, I'm always on the look out for small CRTs, their fun!

Ah nice!, Yeah I work in research occasionally and they have super expensive test TVs with tons of plugins in the back, oh how many times I've been tempted to take one of the old ones they dont use anymore...

What size do you guys/gals think is the best for personal use? I know for 2 player games I tend to like at least 15in.

Thats a great portable NES! Too bad it doesn't say Sharp... you could go for the award.

I have a small TV with wood paneling that I use for the 2600 and Intellivision:

Those are sweet, I'm going to have to keep my eyes open at GW and see if I can find a small one.

Wow like where do you even find a tv that tiny in the sub 10" range. That would be handy in a small space if you could just stack it above the NES and it's still well visible enough to play everything.

I want one of those little 2 inchers..

I want to test if ROB can use like a 2 incher... Then i could split the output to my 40 onto the 2 as well and then it would work for him to see the little one and me to play on the big.

NICE. When my family moved back to the United States in the early 90s, our furniture hadn't arrived yet so for one month we lived in a basically empty house. For a TV, I had a tiny b&w portable much like the one in the original post. Around that time the SNES had just came out and my parents bought me one. So for one month I played Super Mario World and Final Fight on a tiny b&w TV haha.

However, even today I prefer to play 8bit and 16bit games on smaller TVs. For 8bit I prefer a 13-14" CRT and for 16bit I prefer a 19-25" CRT. I like it this way because it doesn't blow up the picture too much and keeps the pixels "looking sharp". In addition, these probably were the general sizes of TVs at the time and what the developers looked at when crafting the graphics. Lastly, it has a more nostalgic feel for me.
